well we're a small country who's only resource is its people and location. We kinda need to have mandatory enlistment for citizens if not we won't have the capabilities to defend ourselves

Yeah thats what i meant with understanding, ofc small countrys need it mostly ( im from a small country myself that has ME) but for public figures that are already representing Indonesia in this case, i think they should terminate the enlistment.

Usually public figures, athletes, esports players, can all get extensions to delay when they start their service. In certain situations if they win enough (Olympic Gold, Grammy,) they can be excused from compulsory military service due to the public service that they did to their country.
