Instead of giving the slot to the winner of Masters, just average out the placements of each region during the event. This way it rewards the region with the best teams who can actually place high. If this were to happen it would stop a weaker region from getting an extra slot of the backs of one team.

I dont know why people are downrating you. Giants and Navi were by far the best lcq teams and it would be unrealistic to think that other potential lcq teams from APAC and AM would do better.

yeah idk why people are downrating I just want to have an open discussion with no region toxicity. Also their is no issue with the teams I just want a fair way for regions to get slots instead of 1 team carrying while the others at the event go 0-2 or 1-2 <3

I wouldn't be surprised if the "extra slot" just went to china.

Average placement does sound good until you start considering the weight of each placement ,the effect of seeding and the amount of teams that goes to each event.

I can't imagine that riot doesn't know how to use computers to find which region did the best with certain parameters. You can do that in an excel spread sheet if you really wanted

I don't care what region gets what slot and Lev would have got washed if you replace them with any EU team. I just thought the whole region slot thing should just be based of performances than be off the backs of 1 team.

I would say the same thing if APAC/AMERICAS won Masters 1 while their whole region got grouped except the winner

I mean Americas would've send Krü and Lev and both would've gotten owned and don't even bother about Pacific since we all saw what happened with their 4th seed.
Navi is the best 5th seed in the entire world without a single doubt and Giants is the best 4th seed in the entire world as well!

Americas would have sent C9 as #5 based of the placements of Masters (Even though they probably go 0-2). But why should a team like NaVi or any other potential #5 get in because of 1 team vs multiple teams doing good (Proving their region deserves the slot)

Idk just my take on the #5 slot for Masters

Yeah so we would see c9, sentinels in Champs. They choked to a team that got grouped in 0-2.
Slots are just not black and white.

Instead of giving slots to EMEA and China, we could give them to Oceania and Africa. I bet there are a lot of amazing talents out there that could surprise us even if they start out a little weak at first events!

That'd be unfair to the team who won and the region they belong to. Better yet just guarantee that the masters winners just get placed in playoffs since they deserve it and just allow more teams to participate in groups

Maybe send the winner straight to playoffs, use the average placement of each region and give extra slots that way. So winner gets rewarded while the region who preforms the best can get more teams in for masters.

That's what I was thinking! Or RIOT could end this stupid franchise system and let any team in the world participate, like in CS. Instead of having only 16 teams at Champions, we could have 32! Or do something like a pre-major like CS:GO. This franchise system killed tier 2! So stupid! =/

Choke9(Huge Maybe If They Win). But they point of this post is to find a fair way for slots so people will stop complaining about teams like FNC carrying in masters to get an extra slot.

Side Note- I don't mean to bash any region as they all of their ups and downs

I agree that extra slots are usless as the #1/#2 from each region are the only teams with a shot to win, but this stops slot complainers and rewards region placements at masters

Keep in mind that NaVi is 5th seed and LOUD is 3rd

To be fair NaVi is not a true 5 seed they just couldn't turn up when they needed to get a higher seed. This post is not about that though as its to come up with a fair way to give slots as it stops teams from carrying their region at Masters. Also to stop region baiting Ex) 1 TEAM REGION KEKW, China,Emea,Apac,etc slots

The extra slots were just a temporary solution for the integration of China into VCT anyway.

Next year each region (including China) will have 3 masters slots and 4 champs slots. I think giving slots to the winners of LOCK//IN and Tokyo was fine. The simpler, the better.
