Title
Have the T2 circuit play year round, open qualifiers happen maybe a few weeks or a month after ascension to give a break, and after that they go into the regular season into a playoff for circuit points. Any team who didn’t make playoffs has to make it through another open qualifier again, cycle repeats, and the teams with the most circuit points makes Ascension. This allows players to get practice year round, while also allowing for a healthy cycling of new talent to come into the system.
T2 never should be and never will be a space where teams can buy in with an all-star roster and expect to succeed every time, I believe it would be more fit for orgs on a budget who scout out young talent and develop them to try and make Ascension, but that ultimately isn’t the reason behind the roster construction, it’s to flip this talent for profit.
1) make the circuit like csgo where every team can go through open qualifiers for tier1 events (my fav)
2) Or if you want this partner league bs then make a better relegation system. Like worst 2-3 "tier 1" teams play against the best 2-3 ascension teams for a spot in tier 1 next year. Rn worst teams wont ever lose their place in the top scene and its bs
if we want to make least changes with the current ascension system my proposed formats is -
hold bi weekly tournament completely open quals kind of like the ones we had with nsg weekly just make it bi weekly
tournament structure
week1 open quals -256teams to 16 single elim
week2 -main event -16 team double elim
give it a points system so u can accumulate points - > top 16 point qualify for challngers finals -> 16 team double elim challengers final top2 qual to ascension
in total we would have (52weeks - 8 weeks for breaks challengers finals and ascension = 44weeks) :-
22 tournament each has prizepool of 10K =220K over the whole year so even if you dont qual for ascension you still have something to play for and showcase your talent for t1 scouts
Here's how.
