The Americas region is killing Brazil's future

M80 and The Guard can scrim C9, EG, NRG, and even LOUD as much as they want because all the franchised teams are concentrated in Los Angeles. Meanwhile no other subregion has the same ability to scrim so many top level teams.

All these brazillian t2 teams would've had LOUD, Furia, MIBR, etc. to scrim with back home, but since they're all in LA then they're stuck with nothing but scraps to scrim against.

If Brazil T2 doesn't have good scrim quality while NA does, then Brazil's t2 scene will greatly fall behind and once all the current franchised players retire there won't be anyone good left to fill their shoes.

While I like allying against EMEA, I honestly think riot should not have made Americas all 1 region, they should have separated between North and South America at least.

Same with APAC, there should've been a north south split like last year

Even in EMEA, at least players from MENA can play on the same servers as Western European players. You have to make a completely separate latam account in order to play with brazil, with the obvious 140 ping issue to deal with.

How can riot think it was a good idea to make all of americas one region?

That's the issue, there are no different regions. Americas is all one region and since all Americas franchised teams have to be in LA, then it cucks every other sub region except for the one chosen to host domestic vct events

at least MENA can play on Istanbul against all the teams in Berlin, that has MUCH better ping than trying to meet halfway between Sao Paulo and Los Angeles

Do you really think T1 teams would scrim on 60 ping to play against an unproven region? I know a couple MENA pros they scrim on 80+ ping always

I'm not saying it's not an issue, I'm saying it's not as bad of an issue. 60 ping is very much playable, 80 ping not as much but a lot more doable than 180 ping in brazil

it's not black and white. Obviously the region as it stands is undeveloped, but if they manage to improve as a region then suddenly that 80 ping might become worth it.

Fnatic wouldn't scrim loud across the atlantic with 170 ping, even if it is LOUD

but if they could scrim LOUD with 90 ping, they might take up the offer.

It's a spectrum, the more MENA develops as a region the more worth it it becomes for teams to scrim them on high ping, and the that bar of what ping they're willing to play on is a lot lower than for Brazillian T2 teams--because no matter how good they become, they'll always have 150+ ping against franchised teams. Keep in mind 80 ping is still pretty playable.

Internet infrastructure is not as well-developed between north and south america as it is across the pacific; same reason why OCE has shit ping everywhere

Just asked a brazilian friend and he said he gets ~110 ping. Pretty sure Org bootcamps can do better than that. It's an issue for sure but you're overexaggerating it massively

Latam North can scrim with franchised teams and challengers teams and yet they are trash. Latam South scrims brazil and they get better practice than North

That's because Chile/argentina before franchising was already a competitive region; it's the same reason why Brazil is so good right now; riot properly fostered growth in those two regions independently from NA

I'm saying this is an issue in the long run; we're going to be seeing video essays in 5 years talking about "what happened to Brazillian or Latam valorant when they were so dominant in the past?" and "how franchising killed one of Valorant's most competitive regions"

1 - Musk's Starlink with low ping across the world
2 - Do a tier 2 americas division with another 10 teams across NA, LAS, LAN and Brazil

starlink will never give you better ping over traditional fiber optic connections. it just gives you better accessibility and I guess stable ping if you get high enough download speed
