Bad meta for DRX

In the current meta, double controller is very strong. Mako is currently the only DRX player who is very good at smokes. I believe that this, coupled with burnout and internal disagreements (6 man roster), is what lead to their “fall off”. As for a fix: Personally I believe that a 6-man roster could work, but only in cases where you have a “double controller” core and a "double int/duelist” core. Subbing your duelist in and out makes no sense. If I were DRX, I would loan out foxy9, and pick up another controller player, such as sylvan.

nah bruh they just played bad and r very readable. Everyone knows they r lineup larrys during post plants so they retake site using no util and flank. They are way too passive on defense. Buzz always plays dookie against actual good teams outside of apac. Foxy9 doesnt really fit in with drx bc hes playing so agro while everyone else is so far behind (its ok if hes agro as long as if everyone else on the team was agro similar to prx). Zest just doesnt have the firepower and just didnt have enough time with the main roster. Stax fragging has just been either mid or really bad ever since he picked up igl. Unfortunate timing bc rb was playing so well with mako.

Rb is actually so good now. He's finally at the level where he can be compared to some the best flexes in the world like chronicle and Victor and f0rsaken.

don't compare chronicle to forsaken and victor, forsaken has similar aiming skills but his util is not as perfect as chronicle's, and victor is a tier 2 player.

I agree with OP. DRX can NOT for the life of them deal with any sort of aggression. That's how they even lost to PRX (and to REYNA of all characters) to land in the group stage. Every other team in Tokyo Masters have a very aggressive playstyle, while DRX are still stuck in "the correct way of playing VALORANT."

That's a good point. I imagine that the poor role consistency partially plays into this.

how many times are we gonna excuse DRX lol... they've been mediocre not only in this meta. yes they have looked the worst in this meta, but they havent achieved anything at all

I disagree that DRX have always been mediocre. During lock//in and champions 2023 they were top 4 itw, and before that they were very consistently 5-6th. They've never been the best in the world, but top 6 itw for over a year cannot be considered "mediocre".

Top 6 itw means nothing but mediocre. people only gonna remember you if you've reached at least 3rd place. If you think accomplishing 5-6th place is nothing mediocre then you do you, i'd expect more especially since this is one the rosters that's been together for a long time. they've had a lot of chances

ig our standards are different. IMO a mediocre team in valorant is one who is almost but not quite making international lans. a good example of a mediocre team last year is ONS or TGRD.

I think DRX were by no means a crazy good team, but certainly not mediocre either. They've played consistently at the highest international level, placed well during all the events last year, and dominated regionally. I agree that they're not spectacular - I don't think I'd consider them for top team last year - but I think over the last year, DRX have proven that they can be competitive at the highest level (e.g. they played very close/won games vs optic, fnatic, prx, fpx) and that they can do so consistently.

even during LOCKIN// I never felt that their strats were stale but ever since the 6 man roster started, their strats and chemistry looked off. Yes they went almost unbeaten BUT they were shaky in most of the matches like LOUD was. They've just stopped innovating and not adapting to the meta comps. They were late to the chamber meta, then they were late again to the harbor/viper/skye meta. They dont have good initiators other than stax but if you see other teams, they have atleast 2 world class initiators & 2 world class controllers. Their duelist is also not that great in the current meta, passive duelists will get util spammed and dealt with. You have to be aggressive & foxy9 solved that to a certain extent until they lose a match & they kick him out to go for their comfort zone. They are afraid to stick with him and sort other issues out and keep reverting back. Its like an injury happening at the same part of the body, it never really heals. So, tl;dr is kick the coach out, he's done and dragging good talents down due to his ego of not stepping down with stale strats.

Um excuse me do I need to remind you how GOOD rb is on sova/fade? He unironically clears stax as an initiator. Zest is also really good with sova too.

It's a great meta for them lol

Jett is the best duelist and Neon is relevant, they don't have a star chamber or raze
Skye and breach are the most played initiators, both Stax's best characters
Info initiators are weaker than usual, they don't have a high level sova/fade
Controllers are absurdly meta, they have the best ITW
KJ is the only good sentinel, Buzz is great on KJ

There hasn't been a better meta for them in ages.
