i think he (actually C9) actually ruined his tier 1 chances, most likely he has to prove himself in tier 2 again.

Nah. It would have been worse if he spent a whole year without playing comp valorant
yeah sure, but it's not that much better after playing on DSG, in fact it may have cemented his "mid" status

it sucks because what made him so good, same with other prominent duelists we see today, is how well optic could set him up to dominate. dsg just can't replicate that
