Yeah thats fair to say.
issue with "hyperpop" is most of the sound isnt actually hyperpop.
big corpo lumped multiple of small sub genres together to form this mess.
but yeah most of the big artists just switched their sound up

state of hyperpop is probably at an all time low

but labels just picked out at bunch of white boys from the scene and they didnt really give back
a scene built up of mostly young people given an ego off a small internet fame. shit wasnt going to last

from what i hear hyperpop kinda plummeted after the whole spotify playlist shit, havent rlly checked in on the scene since late 2020 other than listening to some of the new glaive and ericdoa projects, was sad to see them kinda go corpo. still go through some of the og novagang members' old stuff occasionally though

Yeah the playlist was a weird issue.
think artists just got tired of being boxed in by the sound.
most of them have gone in a more "indie/artsy" direction.
hated that glaive mgk stuff. its completely against what the scene was about

Theres a pretty big divide between the "underground" collectives like ss03/novagang/bloodhounds/etc
and the big label ones like charli and co..
