NA VCT 2 Finals format

First of all congrats to NV for the victory over SEN. However, why in the world would they structure the tournament so that the finals has a chance to be the fastest most flaccid match of all time. The tournament is supposed to build into an intense 5 game series and regardless of a frankly, sad, showing from sentinels. They should still have to be beaten 3 times to lose the finals.... just looking for yalls thoughts.

Ok well, my counter is that in a normal single elimination tournament without a loser's bracket they would've already won.

In addition, if there was no game disadvantage, do you think it would've been a closer match?

Once again, it was double elimination. Envy didn't lose once. If they lost in the finals, they would be eliminated. Every other team got a 2nd chance but had Envy lost the BO5, they wouldn't get one so they had to have some other kind of advantage. The most fair option would be to have a bracket reset(If Sen wins the BO5, they play another BO5 and the winner is the champ). That way Envy would also get a 2nd chance but that would take way too long and watching the same 2 teams play 10 maps in a row would not only be exhausting for the players but boring for the fans. Also other than a map advantage, there is no other advantage that is good enough to replace Envy getting a second chance so they don't have much of a choice.

I guess a possible alternative to the map advantage is Envy being able to choose all 5 map order.. but it wouldn't be as effective and maybe even ends up being more unfair.

We need to keep in mind that in shooters best of 5 series changes from the best of 3 format. Meaning that since you no longer ban your opponents strongest map and start on your strongest means that you are essentially saying if NV takes map one ( SEN best map pick) they will almost always lose in a 2 games. Seems kind of doomed if you keep that in mind. If they are going to keep a map bonus for the winners bracket (winner) maybe then need to allow (bans) to sill happen making that map 4 and 5.

Well if there wasnt a losers bracket Sentinels would've been knocked out.

Look at it this way: in total, NV beat Sentinels 4-1 this tournament.
