Riot Games have announced a new update to the competitive rulebook, finally addressing the issue that complicates and plagues the viewing experience - fake site executions.
A long-awaited addition to the rulebook, this change aims to increase the game's inclusivity and accessibility. This is not the first step on Riot's way to full inclusivity: the company is known for its extensive inclusive policies, which are particularly praised by its former female employees.
"We have done a lot to remove any hindrances for a casual viewer," Riot's Chief Exclusive Inclusivity Officer, Toir Nhoj, commented. "We know that this change may be perceived as controversial, but we hope that the fans will trust us considering our long history of making prudent and well-thought decisions."
Starting from today, if the attacking team starts to execute on a site, they are "locked in" and are required to plant the spike on the site. If planting the spike is extremely difficult or impossible (for example, if the attacking players encounter a particularly strong obstacle, such as a Sage Wall, a Brimstone Molly, or a VISA Denial), the players may attack a different site. In that case, a player from the attackers team has to all-chat a phrase similar to "We're actually going B!".
"We hope that this new rule will not do any harm to the game's tactical depth," Nhoj added. "After all, we care very much about competitive integrity (whatever that may mean)."
