APAC Franchising

It would be a crime if one or more of the ID/TH/MYSG/PH subregions doesn't make it to franchising. Each of these subregions deserves a spot.

I have a very big concern. Unlike EU & NA, APAC teams tend to fill their squad with their own subregion talents.

KR will be filled with Korean Players, JP might have a bit of a mix but mostly still Japanese players, etc.

So, this would kill the talents in a subregion that doesn't have any representation in Franchising.

Exactly my thought. Everyone thinks mixed roster will work in APAC like EU but it wont . Fans here are nationalistic and in mixed roster language barrier will be a thing . I don't think it will work and no fans gonna like it locally.

hmm i think language still ok la, if they can communicate with english then its ok, just like prx, i think most of indonesian pro quite okay with their english, ofc sg my player too, thai maybe i dunno, some quite good like crws

#9

Yeah you are right language maybe not that big deal. I as a fan and many others will only enjoy a mixed roster if there is a strong T2 scene at least. Also I hate that pros have to Korea for the league like why is that? Away from fans and no local support there .

yea tho 100% agree on this, ofc i would be more happy also if 1 team consist of 1 nation. hoping for the best for franchising :(

#13

And Strong T2 Scene will not help that much for a subregion that doesn't have a franchising team :)

Imagine if Singapore & Indonesia doesn't have a franchising team, will a young prodigy like Juicy & Monyet get a chance to play in that T1 Scene (Franchising) at such a young age? I don't think so.

Honestly prx is not a great example of this since like all of them can speak and understand Malay/Indo

#40
equinoxyy

but they all communicate in english,no?

#41
JiangLi

Yes they do . But when for example mindfreak and F0rsaken are alive the switch to Indo sometimes.

#43
equinoxyy

Frags

yup, but thats okay, same like tyloo back in csgo, 2 indo with 3 chinese player, they communicate in chinese english and indo, depends to who they talk to, must be the same with other teams also?

#45
JiangLi

No not really. Maybe it can work but ideally you will want to keep in 1 language. Also pros from HK/TW , VN will have more problems with English speaking so it will be even bad situation for them.

Idk mixed roster in SEA dota works the best, idk why in valorant it doesnt really work

#12

technically prx is mixed but they have been together (except jingg) since csgo days

#14
equinoxyy

Frags

ur right, im not quite sure, maybe because in this game u need to communicate more than dota?

#15
JiangLi

Frags

Also val is wayy bigger than dota in apac overall

#16
equinoxyy
2
Frags

maybe because in dota u only need to communicate with "Game language" like skills, position and common things like, gank mid or roshan or etc, in valo i think u need to be clear with a strat and clear with how to combo ur abilities

#25
InXtiNct

I dont think thats the case since valo also have game language. Comboing abilities also exist in Dota too

yeah tho, i can't think of any reason. im dumb ;_;

#17

there's never been a real chance for a SEA mixed team in Valorant because of the subregion player requirements (3 players from a region to enter in competition)

OG from SA or PRX are the closest things to it.

#19

i think when the franchising start, we will see many mixed team, as the org might want to pick up the best player possible

#20

imagine
-sScary/mindfreak (controller)
-f0rsakeN (duelist/sentinel)
-Jinggg (duelist)
-Lmemore (sentinel/initiator)
-famouz/Deryeon (Duelist) or initiator for famouz, deryeon for chamber maybe

imo there should be more teams included in apac compared to americas and emea. like if theres 10 in americas and emeA, there should be 12 minimum in apac because of how huge apac is

edit: americas

#24

AGREE, 12 should be the minimum, 15 is good

What would be your suggestion? Be realistic and divide the 10 slots, there’s not gonna be more knowing Riot

#30
Tamag0

If the rumor is true, the current APAC Slot distribution is:

3 JP - 2 KR - 3 SEA - 1 SA - 1 OCE

Remove 1 from JP and move it to SEA.

I'm aware that Japan is VERY HUGE in Valorant compared to other APAC subregions, but If Riot sticks to that 10 slots per Region, I think the only realistic choice is to remove 1 slot from JP.

#32

And SEA it’s gonna be 1 PH, 1 Indo and 1 Thai? And you’re proposing taking one away from Jp and giving it to who in SEA? Vietnam? SG? Or just a 2nd one for Indo?

I mean kinda sucks for example for Vietnam for example not to get any. Level wise Indo probably deserve as much as Kr and Jp, but I feel like it’s gonna be more up to the orgs, there’s more investment there and Ik it sucks but it just looks like it’s what’s gonna happen

#38
equinoxyy

yea SG should get 1, if ur talking about investment to the team, Bleed is the one, maybe they can pick up prx

But that’s 4 and you most likely get 3

I do agree 2 Jp and 1 more for SEA in that case

Of course give it to MY/SG for PRX
