I think that's a huge factor but performance probably a factor as well. Chronicle said in an interview that winning LCQ helps their chance of getting in franchising.

it helps because it assures the org that the team is worth the investment.... T1 hasnt played a single qualifier yet they are basically guaranteed to be in franchising

EG is a terrible dead org only thing good about them is their LCS ties
