bind
Split is just too damn linear teamwise imo. Games like the 23-21 are historic, but it does kinda show the huge flaw in split : the defensive side (yes ik that after a while they could ONLY win on attack, boaster finds cracks ok?). When you see a team on split only get 2 on attack you go "man they need to make a comeback!". They win pistol and they almost guaranteed an overtime after 1 round. No other map has such dry sperts in competitive play. Slow work mid, slow work site, slow work heaven. Its just so slow. I see split and I just get bored. Also, I'm a color based guy (i know it sounds bad) but i perfer brighter maps and the fucking endless beige on split just kills my mood. At least Fracture has a green space. At least Icebox has a nice blue sea and brighter colors. Bind and Split just stuck in endless drab and it bums me out to no end.
Split is dogshit for ranked and proplay
Average split game btw https://www.vlr.gg/104993/soniqs-vs-akrew-mel-premiership-s3-w1/?game=87320&tab=overview
Look at the round timeline
Whoever says bind, it is the only map where you see different comps, like it has different teams playing different agents everytime. Yoru,Raze,Neon,Jett
Reyna(only tenz last year) for sentinel it is still different some play double controller and some play chamber, Acend plays Cned on Sage and fair amout of Kj and Cypher. For controllers you got all agents equally played and same with initiator where i think Kayo is played a little less
I guess we might watch different matches but across NA/EMEA the bind meta seems very established.
Raze like 90% only other duelists for those who don't have good raze mains
Skye almost always there
same with viper
Brimstone also almost always there, just a few omens and astras here and there
The only real variation I see is for those who play chamber/sage, or a second initiator with sova/fade/breach.
Also cned hasn't played sage on bind in a long time so theres that too, and the only time I remember someone playing chamber/kj was with fpx, and you know how fpx are xd
Split is the worst.
Haven is just kinda boring.
Bind is fine tbh.
Icebox is too slow early but makes up with some of the most entertaining postplants.
Breeze is just icebox postplants but with better midround play.
Ascent can be really entertaining or really boring depending on the comps.
so basically :
7 - Split
6 - Haven
5 - Bind
4 - Ascent
3 - Icebox
2 - Breeze
and with some of the best agant varyations, single best map to see different individual playstyles, a decent midround - great midround moments, and the single best map in terms of clutch potential
1 - Fracture
Fracture is so fun to watch when 5 individuals practice on it daily. Slow, fast. Heavy push, playing picks. Defensive aggression, strong site holds. ANYTHING GOES. FRACTURE IS TRUELY A BATTLE OF IDEOLOGIES. plus I'm almost 100% sure that through both NA and EMEA, fracture has the most clutches per match. Fuck man, anyone can win behind that fucking B pillar.
