HELLO BROTHERS! I am back. It has been months since my last post. I return with great news though, I have restarted the well project. Since the government entanglement I was unable to use the old well that I had found but I have decided to build one from scratch. This time I will do everything right to ensure that there are no issues. I was hoping that some of my brothers on this forum have had some experience working with or building wells. So far I have checked with the local municipality to ensure that I am not near any lines under the ground. The spot I have chosen is in a good position and is far away from any type of surface or ground contamination. Some outlining has been done and I have started digging. If anyone has any helpful tips or insight into this project I would greatly appreciate it. Even if you're far away from anywhere that may contaminate, you're probably going to want to drill deep enough to avoid any contamination from the surface all together. At least if this is a drinking water well. 100ft at least should do it, but the further you go down the better. Obviously this isn't possible in some areas and idk your situation, but that's just a general rule of thumb to consider. And that's also assuming you're drilling the well and not digging.
If you're specifically digging the well it's gonna be a bit harder to avoid contamination than if it's drilled since it'll be more shallow. If you're digging by hand, make sure to have some type of lining such as concrete or some type of masonry to avoid ground water seeping in.
