Hi everyone you know I work on r/ValCompMemes but the other thing I do is I have my own website where I write stuff and I have worked with vlr.gg's Korexicano (before he moved to vlr) I wanted to see your thoughts on my website (I had to restart it again)
I have forums as well (not infested with stupidity like vlr forums are now)
I have the vlr.gg stats page embedded (not stealing viewers)
I'm also looking for writers and if you are interested shoot me a DM (you might have a chance to go to vlr)
valulrant
website takes a while to load btw be patient

I think a twitter-esque timeline for the news may work better. A problem I have with the format currently is the lack of a good way to differentiate between BIG news, and not as relevant news. The text kind of blends into the image, too. However, that could be a problem with the creator of the news rather than the site itself. Still, I think you should maybe put the title in another separate area where it's easier to read.

Actually, the recent news section is great - the text pops, it's easy to see which news is new, and IMO looks better in general. Maybe emphasize the date more, since it's important! I think this section should be the first thing visible on the site.

The categories section has to be visible right as soon as you load the site, IMO should be part of the navigation bar. It's a very nice addition, though! I think the addition of something like a "roster changes" category, or a "rumours" thing would be very useful.

In terms of overall look and feel, I really like the minimal theme that permeates the entire site, starting from the lowercase title. IMO, the images for the news take away from this. They kind of feel too large, I personally liked the size present in the recent images area much better. It preserves the feel of the site!

Finally, this is a completely subjective suggestion - remove the name, email, and website entries when commenting. I think completely anonymous comments really drive interaction, even if they come with potential problems. The easier it is to interact, the more there will be interactions!

It's a great site! Even more impressive since it seems that you made it mostly by yourself.

Some tips:

Do one thing and do it well
We already have vlr and thespike, focus your website on something more specific and make sure the content on your website is something, that can only be found on your website. This will make people want to actually use your website.

Get proper hosting
Free web hosts can be nice to experiment with, but if you want to do anything remotely serious, I recommend going with a paid host and learning some web hosting basics. Oh and acquire your own domain name.

Cut the fat
Think carefully about what features you need on a wordpress website to make more people use it. Do you really need a forum add-on? Do you really need to embed someone else's stats page? Why wouldn't you just go to vlr for these features? Think about the purpose of each feature and whether they actually provide tangible value, or simply add bloat to the website. The strongest aspect seems to be the news section, have a razor focus on that.

Thanks for the feedback :) I will look into the anonymous writer section and for the twitter timeline suggestion it requires me to change the theme (website is built on WP) and it can mess up the posts on my website. The roster change and rumor category is a very good idea things is a very good idea (I haven't had many leaks come to me since the guild move which I got from helping a player find a team) I will deffo implement that soon (maybe today or tomorrow) . For the big roster changes and small roster changes would a news missed section (similar to vlr) be good?.

I added the forum to increase viewer engagement with my content and website (I think it will make people want to come back to the website more often) and I will look for a paid hosting option in the future. I had my first leak that was Guild parting ways with Yacine and Bonkar but at the time I thought they got kicked and I consulted BoDork (Legend btw) and George Geddes and they said that it was incorrect so I didn't post it. Thespike is declining imo but I'm aware that there is rib.gg that is used a lot because of it's analytics.

Pretty good already. I have a suggestion create a separate page in your website where top valorant memes will be posted on a regular basis. People should be able to comment etc.
