Yeah it's because of franchising. And riot doesn't want 3rd parties to host any events.

Valorant is actually such a restricted game when you think about it. Riot doesn't let the community do anything without taking it up to their CEO. People who host offseason events have to beg for tournament clients.

The pros always complaining about burnout (the ones that consistently make Masters at least), so I'm guessing Riot is trying to find a nice balance of a break and getting games going.

I don't get why they don't do more third party tournaments or mid season tournaments (For example: have like 4 teams from Tier 1 + 4 teams from Tier 2 compete), would be insane to watch matchups that we never normally get to see
