NRG Esports has finalized a trade with Evil Geniuses, sending benched player Verno and coach Bonkar in exchange for EG head coach Christine "Potter" Chi and player Jaccob "Yay" Whiteaker. NRG has been struggling to find consistency in their roster, with Verno’s recent… legal troubles (after breaking FNS’s nose in a heated team discussion) leading to him being benched indefinitely. Meanwhile, Bonkar, never quite found his place in the NRG system and was relegated to the bench.
With Yay’s return, NRG gets an instant firepower boost, reuniting the former OpTic star with a familiar system. Many believe this could be the redemption arc Yay has been waiting for after bouncing between rosters in the past few years. Potter, reuinted with her former player Ethan, is looking to build up a second champion winning roster with a mix of old superstars and new rookie talent.
