KR has a massive gaming culture with a lot of talent, so they don't really need to import players.

Its a dense place with not many different cities people can live in I think so like host a tryout in a city or 2 is not a bad idea for a big org like honestly thatd be kinda sick I would go but NA doesnt work like that because its so vast and spread out

That definitely needs to change. If China had a good path to pro system, they would easily be a top region for sure.

Oh word. I definitely still feel that way about most regions though. With good accessibility and a rooted gaming culture, I think any country can be competitive.

if i had to guess
1) there's already an abundance of kr talent
2) full kr > mixed roster so the kr orgs would prioritize that
3) more job prospects (higher salaries + viewership) and less competition makes cn/jp more appealing

Historically it's not that orgs haven't considered imports. In valo there's last year T1, and some teams in the LCK have more international contacts than you might think.

they just haven't done it because they concluded they'll win less.

You don't buy out players from other countries when you're the dominant country when it comes to top games.

Surprised language hasn't also been mentioned. A full KR roster means the team can speak just Korean and not worry about anything else. Unless whoever they're importing already knows Korean, importing someone means either switching comms languages or having the import take a bunch of Korean classes. Either way there'll be a barrier and a learning curve until everyone's comfortable, which might be too long to be of value.
