I've been discussing this with my colleagues, some of whom have experience working with Korean and Chinese companies, and they all agree that the workplace culture is very different. In these companies, if you're the best at something and passionate about it, you'll get promoted and given opportunities—regardless of whether you have connections or a backer inside.
In contrast, many companies elsewhere tend to prioritize networking, sometimes putting less competent individuals in key roles simply because they have the right connections.
Could this be one of the reasons why regions like Korea and China have been growing so fast in Valorant—and even beyond the esports scene? Curious to hear your thoughts.
