i remember back in late 2022 people were saying how sova was cooked with the shock dart nerfs and the drone scan only pinging double and the drone duration being shit, yet now besides omen and viper he's the most played agent.
Val needs to stop nerfing agents and buff them instead. sova which was so much worse than fade and skye in 2022- early 2023, is suddenly one of the most played init compared to the rest of them BCOS they all got nerfed
I know partly is due to the meta where most of the maps are sova maps, and even maps where sova is not btr than fade he's being played due to cyphers dominance on that map.

It's not even "besides Omen and Viper" anymore. He's just flat out the most picked agent in pro, and by a long shot, too

the fact that there are only two recon initiators means that he will always be picked. hoping the new guy is a recon initiator

hot take nerfing agents is good for the game. most teams today run the same agents from 2021 (omen, jett, raze, sova, kayo, viper) so allowing other agents to shine (even if they are shit on release) is good. Also as the game goes on people get better, meaning the abilities can get worse and people will still find as much effectiveness. Also as more agents release it helps dampen the clutter from 230 random pieces of bullshit flying across your screen making it more new player friendly

on the other hand, fade received a buff so it was alright, and teams still used sova on multiple maps. Not a great point but I get what you are trying to say.

Sova will never be cooked in comp because his util can be used anywhere on the map. He's just too flexible when cooking up comp plays.

In ranked he's so good for a solo initiator cuz sova has shockdarts and scan which he can play selfishly with, too unlike other initiators like breach and fade where you have to rely on your team not baiting u.

For these reasons no matter how much you buff sova or nerf sova he will always have a toolkit too useful to not include in team compositions

unless another scan initiator is coming out and is on par or better than sova, sova will never be out of the meta because of how valuable his utility is
