Why does everyone say they're off-season merchants? They've only won 1 event out of 6 offseason events? Also they've never won redbull either? They don't even look good at these events either. They look mid.
Hobbit [#3]Because they only look like a competent team in the off-season
they always looked competent to me

Offseason and regular season merchants, really. Whenever it comes to qualifying for internationals, they bomb out in playoffs, against teams they've destroyed before. Two years in a row, C9 was a favorite to make Masters/Champions and lose out.

favorites since when?? they always had mid teams
brahianv [#4]they always looked competent to me
Decent and middle of the pack at most maybe, but definitely not heavy hitters
brahianv [#7]favorites since when?? they always had mid teams
pretty sure at the beginning they got called a superteam the last 2 years
brahianv [#7]favorites since when?? they always had mid teams
Favorites since they went 5-1 in the regular season of Split 1 in 2024, lost in first round of playoffs.
2023 they were 8-1 in the regular season, lost to EG and NRG to get 4th. Then lost to KRU in LCQ.
They're favored because their regular season performance is way higher then other teams.
brahianv [#2]i also dont get the off season narrative
They've been in the grand finals of the Redbull Homeground all 3 years they've attended. 2022-2024
brahianv [#7]favorites since when?? they always had mid teams
Fumbled a "super team"
Choked against NRG in 2023 Americas for a spot at both Masters and Champs
Choked a 2-0 lead against LEV to qualify for the LCQ grand final
Failed to be consistent in playoffs after being dominant in the group stage
Kevn [#14]I thought the original thing was theyre Regular Season merchants and then at some point people just start saying off season merchants as well. I think it’s just an overall narrative that they’re better when it doesn’t matter
which is just true they thrive in low stakes and when teams are less prepped for them
