What's the point of GC? ( No hate honestly)

Like we all know GC is a lower tier of competition even in comparison to a lot of T2, like genuinely the retakes, util use, mechanics and game sense, etc seems so poor in so many teams and players, not all tho but in serious sense people play T2 for what? Cause they can get good enough to become a T1 player than can shine in the bigger spotlight, the primary reason behind why a lot of people pursue eSports is the glory and spotlight part of it and that they want to be the best, while we all can definitely agree GC is much smaller competition with lesser spotlight, spending your entire career in GC is similar to all those who spend their entire career in T3 ( regional Valo challengers) and tho they are known to be really good there in that region, they are barely good enough for T2 and T1 is an even longer road( not applicable for everyone tho) , i believe if you are joining eSports you should strive for the best and thus try T2 or T3 after becoming a really good level player in GC or there's no point , that's why I respect mel so much , she's good in GC already and tried for a T1 team tho it ended bad.

Tldr: The good GC players should strive for T1 level by trying to pursue T2/T3 and leaving GC behind, and if you are good enough in GC but don't wanna do that means you are not good enough to be called an esports pro

Who cares about being "good enough to be called an esports pro"? they are making the bag and i wouldn't pressure them to give it up just so they can get respect from vlrians and make a little more money on the off chance they succeed. what a worthless thing to chase after

The competition ceiling keeps getting lower every year and rate of improvement drops drastically

I don't think the competition will improve unless men and women only teams are forced to compete against each other throughout the year

the whole point is to remove the negative stigma in society around women playing videogames. it may make sense for some people in NA who live in really progressive cities like in LA where it is completely normal to see women playing videogames, but in other parts of NA and the world there is a gender norm of videogames being a thing only for men. Especially videogames at the highest level. Game changers just wants to help bridge that gap, trying to get more women to be fans of esports, which in time, has more women pursuing esports as a job.

It's a long term investment which could pay off well, since the playerbase of shooters could double if theoretically the same amount of women played these games as men.

the argument of "if women aren't good enough they shouldn't play" gets tossed around on VLR a lot but it doesn't make sense logically. If out of 10,000 gamers, 1 of them goes pro, and 95% of them are men, it does not leave a lot of room for women to go pro. It has nothing to do with gender, and everything to do with culture as men play more shooters than women, and they "grind" harder than women since the idea of making it pro seems more realistic to them since women typically are not culturally exposed to these games in an esport context
