Maybe because VIT must've spent a lot to get Less.
Which could've happened because of FNC only looking to sell him to NA.
Just a speculation, but I still want Derke to go to VIT.

And I really prefer him to play controller/senti, I don't see him being comfortable at initiator

I get your point but derke is better as a duelist, less better as senti, cender good smokes/IGL and sayf has no problem playing, so I hope you get my points.
