Will there be relegation in tier 1 next year?

I vaguely remember hearing that next year Riot won’t guarantee spots for tier 1 teams in the franchises anymore, is that true? If so, how will relegations work? Does anyone know?

Sort of and only for the ascended teams G2/2G

If they make champs they retain their spot, if they make playoffs they get to play in Ascension and if they don't make playoffs they are automatically relegated

whoever places higher stays. Not sure if the other goes to ascension or relegated. Same applies to both making playoffs

I know this will never happen.. But there is a world where G2 wins champs and 2G places 2nd, and 2G gets relegated

eh, I mean you can't have both stay or tier 2 loses meaning. It's a complicated situation there

imagine ur 2G, sweating ur ass out and u lose in Loud Lock/in style against G2 in the Champs Paris Finale only to go back into ascension while a bum like MIBR gets 0/12 in the whole season and will still be sitting in franchise

If I remember correctly they said the contract with partnered teams won’t see any sort of reconsideration until 2027

I don't think relegation will happen because of poor performances rather poor decisions.
Example MIBR: They have been doing super bad their whole Valorant stint and they look to continue to do so but riot still allowed to be be Tier 1 but I would think they would continue to not invest in Valorant and use the money they get from riot and put it into CS then maybe riot would think about relegating them.

Ascension teams are different since they're weren't invited to the league and they made based on performances and not org decisions. And they will also get relegatee based on performances.

unfortunately riot won't look into that until 2027 if that's the case

Well I'm assuming Riot are noting down what orgs are doing and when the time comes they're gonna revaluate them and decide if they should relegate them or not.

2027 is evaluation of franchised teams , ascension teams will get relegated based on which does worse between the 2 ascended teams
