In the 4 finals they lost, only 1 one was a choke.

Choking means not winning or performing in circumstances you're expected and supposed to win.

They were not better than KC at the time, it wasn't a choke.

They were not better than Gen.G at the time, it wasn't a choke.

They actually were better than Fnatic at the time, that was the one choke.

And finally, they were not better than EDG , that wasn't a choke.

The real biggest chokers of the year are 1. NRG (for obvious reasons) and 2. PRX (were favorites to win Shanghai) 3. Gen.G (getting grouped at champs was a big choke, a stain on an otherwise great year).

losing to a team that is better than you isn't a choke

The only time they were supposed to win and lost to a team they shouldn't have is the Finals vs Fnatic

Going into each match the thought process was:

vs KC 'Anyone's game, lets find out who the best team in EMEA really is'
vs Gen.G 'Anyone's game (edge to Gen.G if anything- the upper bracket team), lets find out who the best team in the world really is'
vs Fnatic 'Ez for heretics 3-0 or 3-1'
vs EDG 'Who knows, lets find out who the best team in the world really is'

they were up 2-1 on GEN g and couldnt close it out is that not a choke to you? they dont up the intensity in finals either

Honestly i thought Gen.G was the better team the entire time and only choked/got unlucky on icebox (texture legging boo with the awp, munchkin barely missing a flash that would have won the round, etc).They looked like they were in control the entire time even though they lost the map.

Honestly the only map that TH actually looked like the better team was Ascent, Gen.G was straight up not clearing corners.

Anyways, by the same notion, did Gen.G 'choke' vs SEN at madrid? They were in the same spot you described. The answer is no, SEN just showed why they were the best team in the world.

Edit: nvm, i just rechecked kickoff and forgot they shit on KC at the start, yeah that was a choke

Similarly, what made them favorite vs EDG? If anything the upper bracket team is by default the favorite. Even if you had TH winning that game, its not like it was a huge upset or a shocker that they lost

Thread makes 0 sense. We've seen this time and time again from TH. Their mental isn't good. Choked against PRX in Madrid. Reverse swept by FNC. Nearly lost their lead to FPX on Icebox. The GENG match is a tricky one because it was GENG's game to lose, but TH completely fell apart on Lotus and looked checked out on Split. They just looked out of it and the vibes were noticeably off. Some really bad maps against G2, one including the worst choke in tier 1 history. Choked against LEV in their first match together.

EDG match wasn't a choke.

This is likely because they're very young and inexperienced players. They either think the job is done before the match is over and let their lead slip or just get nervous in big moments. This will improve with time, it's really impressive how good they are right now.

Yeah bro definitely they let that fnc match slip as well as the kc finals but in Shanghai GenG was just way too good and these were pretty young guys and in champs dude kk was like a fucking monstrous undefeatable villain
