International Events

Hear me out, we all know riot is going to change the schedule because of the EWC next year, but the tier 2 scene and tier 1 overall only has 3 international events throughout the year, and ngl, they're hype to watch but its not enough. My proposal is either IEM or ESL comes in and starts sponsoring T1 & T2 events based on placements of league teams as well as open qualifies for the rest. Just imagine a 32 team event where we can see multiple T1 & T2 teams battle it out on the world stage. The only problem is that i don't think its in the contract with teams to play in events not sponsored and or not included in the riot games org-company contract. But if its possible, I think it would be awesome, it would give more teams the international opportunity, more exposure of T2 in T1 play and the ability to watch more valorant as the community. Why do you think CS got that big, more international events means more people exposed to the valorant ESP scene which means more people that are watching and more money. Big brain, call me Isaac Newtron

riot are probably dead set on being the only TO and therefore limting the number of events as much as possible, this format you propose would only work with an open or a semi-open circuit, unlike whatver valorant is with its franchising

lets genuinely the problem. since riot also has a firm grip on there only being 2 ascension teams

basically these events wouldn't grant anything for tier 2 teams, except for money and exposure. CS events like Cologne work because if a team has a good enough performance it will rise up the rankings and get more invites to other tier 1 events, despite not being a partner.
Example Given, team spirit went in Katowice as one of the Play-in teams, however after winning the event they rose up the rankings and their ranking slot was good enough for them to get consistent tier 1 invites at events like Dallas, therefore improving their seeding, granting them better exposure and allowing them to get more ranking points to get better seeding for the Major. Teams in CS grind event to event to get more points and get into the Major qualifying slots, it doesn't work the same way in valorant

however, if they have these events, tier 2 teams would be able to grind other circuits that could better there chances of making ascension

it probably wouldn't. You might use these events as a sign of who is more likely to get ascension, but it's just charity at this point. Closed circuits fucking suck and it might be the reason tier 2 migrates to CS with an open circuit instead of sticking around punching a hole

unfortunately. also why only 8 teams in masters bangkok, like bru, out of 48 VCT teams, only 8...

again, dumb closed circuit, CS played around with this concept and abandoned this shit going into 2025, now teams get invites based on how good they are and not based on how much their orgs pay, I literally don't know why riot are sticking around with this concept when this shit will just mass extinct the tier 2 scene

see, i feel like paying teams should get invited, in CS, but not invited directly into events, just the final 8 or 16 qualifier. They shouldnt get auto bids into events for paying a mil per year

I think that you probably don't know how cs will operate next year, but basically valve has a ranking of all the teams and in order for the event to count as tier 1 it should have invited all top 8 teams ( they can reject the invite) and then also open/closed qualifiers of all regions. Basically any team from any region can get consistent placements at big events ( and cs scene operates every week from january to june and from july to december). plenty of events, plenty of exposure, plenty of opportunities for smaller teams, huge prize pools for most events, different formats (some up to 32 teams), and tier 2 scene also exists as well.
oh, and every half a year teams grind as many points as possible to get invites to the major, giving slots to teams who were the most consistent throughout the year, ensuring the best possible competition at the biggest event, and providing equal opportunity for everyone

When is the EWC? The only time it can be is Nov-Dec, unless there is a long enough break in the main season

Well masters is going to be in June, so the only feasible place is between Toronto and Split 2. But idk if that gap would be large enough

riot said they wanted to make change to the season most likely from JUL-AUG which is when the EWC is. They were invited to it but the season was already mid grasp in playoffs

DIsagree, I think keeping it limited to a few internationals keeps things more interesting - too many events and the prize pool gets watered down, and fans don't care as much about each individual event.

For T1 we only have 3 main events and so everyone is locked in.

at the same time how are you going to attract new players if most of us want more events
