BLEED was forced to get a new player due to juicy being underage when they won ascension las year. so unfortunately any underage players on any ascencion winning teams are to be benched or sent to a new t2 team through partnerships.

I guess they weren’t expecting to make this far they were a pretty unknown team and no one expected much from them

Its because they become contracted workers and have if they are under 18 there will be child labor laws to consider

I don't understand why players under 18 are not allowed to play by Riot, when most of the time a talented player they grind & play the game since a little kid...and reach their peak at under 18 ?

Valve and Riot are two different companies with different rules as for who is able to play on their tournaments.

Valve way of handling esports are kinda hands free no? There's no "franchising " in cs or Dota , so no one is technically working under valve. As far as I'm concerned, valve doesn't give a shit if an org fields a 13yo. This has both meanings, the player got to enjoy his career early or valve doesn't give a shit about what might happen to this child.

Special exception to players who were already part of the tier 1 valorant ecosystem as franchising didn't exist before they were 18 (cauanzin, zekken and alfajer)

This is regarding the labor laws in germany (since host for emea) and only per memory:
When saying minor here im refering to 15-18 year olds

Labor laws in germany are problematic for how val esports operates atm

  • Work permits are always a pain to get for minors so that'd already be annoying (but probably doable)
  • Minors are generally not allowed to work after 20:00 (theres a ton of exceptions and riot could theoretically try to apply using some of the exceptions surrounding television productions, but thats gonna be a huge headache and anything but guaranteed to work)
  • Limit on work times (40 hours per week, 5 days max, only max 2 saturdays per month, 12 hours free time after every shift) - this is just gonna turn into a war of what part of a pros work are part of the contract and what parts are just them doing it in their "free time", we'd def see more ranked streams though ;3

And then theres a ton more eyes on companies which regularly employ minors, which would cause a ton more work for the orgs and riot
