It's his political beliefs that made him not wanting to cast in China.
It might be hypocrite sure, but let's not act as if everyone isn't a hypocrite all throughout their lives, to not be hypocrite at something means you're being hypocrite at something else, you can't serve everybody and you don't have to.
he didn't (cmiiw)impose on anyone about his decision to not cast in China, the least we can do is respect his decision.
