Why would they save money for this though. Its probably going to be the second biggest val tournament of the year. A bigger prize pool would only drive up viewership and add more incentives for players in the tournament, especially in smaller regions, to try there best. Plus smaller leagues like Overwatch League have bigger prize pools like 3.5 Million, granted the teams are larger but still.

Valorant is still a new game compared to other FPS and games played in LAN in general.. If they go "all out" during their 2nd LAN event then people will expect more and more and they might not deliver. Though 700k is still huge for an event that isn't technically a main event.

I think they overdid themsevles with the pruize pool of iceland.
Most likely they want a 1 milluion dollar pool for champions so they didnt wanna exceed too much on berlin

They cant keep it at 1 mil for this tournament when its literally only the second big event they’ve hosted, they’ll gradually increase it throughout the future

The should copy the SI 2021 prize pools for champions. 30% of battle pass purchases during the champions act goes towards the prize pool and caps at 3m
