EU embarrasing

The widest pool of players, including TR & CIS - they still get beaten by a full TR & CIS team. Not sure if it's their egos or if they've gotten way too comfortable without winning stuff and they don't care - but something has to change, at least within the big orgs who can afford big names. G2 tried at least, every other EU team should buy/change players.

Well I'd imagine one reason most of them aren't making any big moves is because can't make any unless they are willing to lose circuit points, that combined with the fact that there aren't really any big name free agents that would make those teams immediate contenders makes is really hard to see any big roster shuffles coming in the near future

I think there is definitely an ego element involved. My impression is that EU big org names don't take scrim beatings(generalising here based on scrimbux rumours and attitude of some players during their streams when they talk about these) against TR teams and Gambit seriously, because they think that for some reason the teams they lose against in scrims will not be able to repeat the same things during officials. Well it now appears that they've been wrong and hopefully will lead to some good old reality check.

Well when you say this you have to keep in mind EU was .01 seconds away from sending 2 teams to Berlin and CIS sending none, so I wouldn't over react just yet

.01 seconds away is irrelevant when G2 were 12-8 up at one point imho. They still had at least 2 more opportunities to properly close that game out, but they didn't and instead let Gambit win in OT.

EDIT: perhaps people are also misinterpreting my comment. What I mean by reality check is not that EU is completely done, but rather that EU big orgs are gonna have to do something about their praccs to make sure that they are better. Like G2 spent a whole July praccing and even had a bootcamp, but their play still relied heavily on somebody popping off just like in Challengers 1 qualifiers. The game against SMB really exposed G2's flaws when they literally had no counter to SMB's utility set plays and I think it's simply down to the fact that G2's preparation wasn't as good as it could have been.

First I was talking about TL, and secondly it wasn’t anything that Gambit had prepared that made them ultimately win that series, it just came down to luck, no practice helps someone get the luck they need to make their opponent take 1 hundredth more of a second to plant the bomb, at that point it’s just rng. And to your point about practice, none of us know what’s going on behind the scenes, so there is no real reason to speculate that they are not taking practices seriously.

Dunno, these 1 hundredth defuse/plant scenarios sound like excuses to me. First of all, those particular rounds were exceptions, but what about the rest of the rounds that ensured that a lucky defuse/plant was gonna determine the winner of the game? I'm pretty sure teams that are contenders for the title of the best of the best will want to make sure that they win rounds to an extent where lucky outlier defuses/plants do not change the final outcome of the match

Well they are excuses, and excuses are sometimes okay. And the score was 12-11, TL leading and the series tied 1-1, so yes, the luck that Gambit had did give them another chance to win the game which they won. But not every team is perfect and only the best teams in the world are consistent enough to be what you describe, I never called TL a contender nor would I think they had any chance to win Berlin, but they had a very high chance to make it and give EU 2/4 slots from EMEA.

Fair enough, your points are reasonable. In the end, Valorant is pretty volatile and I think that in this game in particular, a specific team, or a specific comp can counter whatever the opponent has prepared before hand. I hope that other teams are now going to be underestimating EU's teams, only for EU teams to hit their stride on LAN, despite the current EMEA result

Nats gets more than a half of sandwich tbh, G2 tried to pay his buyout when they were looking for pyth's replacement but it was toooooo expensive as some of their analyst desk said.
