After watching today and seeing all the Madrid Micky mouse tournament stupidity I started to wonder which year was more competitive. It is a hard thing to judge and like most things on this site I am sure there is no right answer. I would argue though that last year a lot of teams changed their roasters a lotttt, not just sen. this caused new dynamics and even language barriers that took. while to move past. I think given how most of the EG players who won last year are all bottom fragging for their teams kind of shows this. I think teams were so unpredictable even more then now and trust me they still are now that it allowed for teams like EG to win it all or KRU to go on a LCQ run of the century or even NRG to lose to the likes of billi billi. I am not saying it's perfect now but I think it only gets better and I do believe some if not most teams now could definitely beat the old EG winning roaster. Even sen started to beat PRX heard in scrims the second they added johnQT. Either way the games changes and we will never know but I wouldn't start calling things Micky mouse tournament regardless as they are hard to win regardless and you can't compare the teams now vs the teams before.

Lastly quick side note but you act like Sen should not have won but if they didnt go no NA team as of then would have so just be happy NA took it home. Also EMEA was decent then and I feel like they have only gotten stronger as each team is now pretty even with each other. ANd Pacific is definitely stronger as DRX look great and PRX are coming back into form while also the new additions of GenG and team secret are helping to grow the area as well. I know a lot of you hate sen but I don see any other team right now besides them being able to win shanghai (I mean how they were at masters Madrid not now)

(Messed up the tittle repost)

i dont agree. eg champs 2023 beats probably any team currently. the players may be bad now, and bad in 2022, but the roster is still really good. c0m having potter to teach him lurks with the great util from ethan and jaw to create openings was huge, he doesnt have that anymore. also c0m is a really good sova, hes been on that role less since joining lev

ethan has had to take up IGLing for the first time and he hasnt even been bad

demon1 has had to deal with a big jett nerf and nrg has wanted him to pick up raze. demon1 is still really good and has a 1.17 jett rating in the last 90d

jawgemo showed his class yesterday owning on 2/3 maps vs sen, diffing zekken. jawgemo has some of the best raze util in the world and you can still see it when he plays now. he just doesnt have ethans util and demon1 secondary entry to help him succeed as that spearhead. The wood of the spear has been dulled, although the iron is cut from the same ore.

also boostio, idk. boostio was good in 2022 so thats what i can say.

this team had a sick dynamic, jawgemo and demon1 were perfect for each other, the way boostio calls is amazing. this team would OWN current prx, fnatic, navi, sen, karmine corp, team heretics, drx, gen g....

that team was special, regardless of the individuals who arent anything that spectacular, the team as a whole was top tier.

Add a TLDR. Not reading any of allat.

TLDR:
A lot of teams made many changes in 2023 which made their rosters unpredictable. This led to unexpected wins such as BLG's win against NRG as well as EG's Champions win. Additionally, alongside the unpredictable rosters of 2023, most of the players who were on the roster when EG won are now bottom-fragging in their respective teams which makes me question the competitiveness of 2023 VCT. I also would like to think that a lot of current teams in 2024 could beat EG's 2023 Champions winning roster.

Also be happy that SEN won Madrid because they're an NA team.

I think 2023 EG Champions were a really strong, well connected team. Currently 2024 teams don't have a chance.
Thank you for the TLDR.
