i like this, but honestly some orgs with shit teams are too valuable of an asset to drop. dropping DFM from last year would remove a lot of japanese fans, currently mibr and Furia have a huge brazilian fan base that you can't get rid of.

not that i agree with riot's stance on permanent slots in the leagues, but i kind of understand why they wouldn't remove the orgs for poor performance. but if they clearly weren't trying to make a good team and were shameless about it? that would probably be grounds for removal.

We already had that, it's called promotion relegation

The entire point of franchising is that teams have security, riot was betting on that to keep orgs intrested pre franchising

Putting the positions of orgs at risk in the current system is not an option for riot

Besides they're locked into this format for the next 3 yrs so there's nothing to be done abt that

Esports is already a difficult field to find investors in. Adding more variance would be a bad idea imo

what good is a fanbase whose team is honestly disappointing

imagine being fodder wins for top teams to qualify tho

2nd year in franchise and mibr and furia are still badd

problem is also that relegating worst teams hurts the diversity of the leagues, when val is trying to be a "global" esport

I think the problem with this is that it takes away a lot of the incentive to actually win through Ascension.

It's a given that the Ascension winners would clear a lot of the franchised teams, so T2 teams would only put in effort up until the second place spot and get in franchising through the promotion series, which kinda defeats the whole point of Ascension to begin with.
