I mean, Steel type pokemon have high defensive stats (they have the highest number of resistances and are immune to Poison attacks). It is worth noting, however, that the 3 weaknesses of the Steel type (Fighting, Earth and Fire) are often used offensively.

steel is probably a top 3 type in the game with water and fairy. steel/fairy is easily the best typing in the game
