These series/matchups are the hardest ones to predict with my skills. ASE has great players, but they've lacked a lot of dominance potential by not playing bunt and monk, whom in my opinion, are better than Yuicaw and YHchen. Now, I understand that they probably aren't playing them for very valid reasons, but since they aren't going to play, then I'd like to believe that FPX will win this series. FPX made an amazing run last time and gave RA, the runners-up, a run for their money. They've shown how good they are, and I think players like Autumn and AAAAY are going to be instrumental in their (possibly) 2-0 win.
Disclaimer!!!!1!: I am not the most confident in this particular prediction. I understand that some people might try to bet money from my predictions, but please be advised that I myself am not very confident in this 2-0 FPX win prediction.
kinda interested in this "yuicaw&YHCHEN vs Monk&Bunt" discussion coz my ideal lineup up would be bunt replacing zero1 and Monk compete with yuicaw as the sentinal(different playstyle)
Here is my idea about these players.
YHchen
I ve been watching ASE since Life joined them in 2022 and can't help noticing YHchen eventually becoming a solid igl with decent rifle plays. his late game calls r half the reason why ASE was such a lethal team on the offensive side. I might be ex aggerating but he's above my expectations so much. Sneaky odin player.
Yuicaw
Had to admit I was a AY lover and Yuicaw haters, coz I felt he was an average Lcq level duelist, a shitty rifle player with inconsistency and lack of discipline. However his ASE career looks fine with multiple kills and experienced positioning. Being a sentinal solve his overheat issue as well.
The only two things I worried about, r him being the same fraud in the following games and being a much passive player comparing to Monk.
Monk
The sheriff master that keeps evolving. He is a aggressive sentinal player that gives ASE extra advantage on eco rounds. in my opinion he and Yosemite are the only two players in CN who can make a difference on the weak side of the map, others r limited by team strategies and abilities.
Bunt
His teammates takes all the glory on the offense side but his performance on the def side is solid when he stays in the C site of Haven there will be a trade for two and no retake( overall this team is full of aggressive playes.) Life duo with him a lot of times btw.
Zero1
Sry but idk what's the strategy of him staying in the lineup. I thought he was just replacing YHchen for several months as flex, but he stays and keeps bot frag-ing. Maybe he can play controllers and bunt can't do initiators?😓
Hmmmmmm. I may not follow ASE very closely, but I get many of the points you're trying to put forward. The only slight disagreement I have is that I think you're overlooking how useful Zero1 is. Sure, he may not be the best player, but I think he's a pretty solid player to put in the support role. Regardless, I think you make some good, solid points.
Thank for for taking your time to write this insightful comment on ASE. It's beneficial for me to learn as much as possible about every team and I appreciate your help.
nah it's just they have met 3 times after kone boys joined, no other A tier teams meet each other like this. Losing in the cq was sad and the following two wins r kinda illusional when Tyloo turned out to fail people's expectations again.
Ps:Yuicaw crosshair placement is insane and u might also get why I love AY, I can't breathe now...
Zero1 was brought in to replace YHchen as an IGL. They want to move away from aggressive overheat playstyle and move more to a strategical style. They've achieved that with their new lineup and are already doing far better. Monk and bunt overheat far too much and even though they might do better in CN, ASE has no chance going anywhere internationally with those 2, I mean they couldn't even make it to top 4 last stage. I've been watching ASE for just as long as you and even though those 2 are great mechanically they have questionable decision making (which they get away with against any non-top-4 team), especially during moments where it matters the most - it pains me to watch them sometimes. Yuicaw has always been a good player, just not on jett/entry since he plays more passive than he should - the other roles fit him more. If you watched today's match Zero1 had high impact, this is pro play, bot-fragging clearly isn't a glaring issue - he is playing a support role. If Life kept bot-fragging then there's an issue.
yeah they definitely need more stability, especially on def side. Monk and Yuicaw ASE r just like the aggressive unstable version and a slightly passive but stablized version.(I was prepared for a Yuicaw pop-off and it still surprised me).
G2&3 against FUT was painful when they were clearly overheat and engage in individual fights and throw it one by one.
Was kinda sarcastic on 01 mb, glad to see him read the game and got some shots through the smoke or by wall bang.( Their Lotus A defense was so diverse and active).
And life definitely need to upgrade himself more, that ascent game looks like he is isolated from the others while entering, with the jett nerf we need him.
The disrespect to YHchen is insane, do people not see how insane his supportive utility is? He is topping the lobby on assists consistently, even when they went international his assists were insane.
Ontop of just straight up assists he is such a gap filler, alll 4 players will forget to check a corner, except him, things that dont appear on the stats like him playing his life at switch map 1 every time allowing teammates in garden and site to get a bunch of kills, delaying with the molly and knife in tree. Next time ASE play just pay attention to how he plays and how good he is at supporting and setting up the rest of the team is, if you do and still think monk/bunt are better choices u gotta be smoking something.
ASE have so much potential imo, if Life can play a little tighter with his team while entering sites as jet, and lean into the operator more, and Zero1 can improve his individual decision making, then this team can be competitive tbh.
