Maybe I've misunderstood, but I thought these tournaments were for Ascension for CN, so they also had 11 slots in their league. But at the same time, we've got BBG/EDG/FPX in there, playing - who are (according to any leaker) already confirmed for the league.
Which then makes me thing what is the point of this tournament? If it's just a regular tournament for vibes then yeah fair enough, I just thought this was advertised as the process for Ascension in CN

Correct sorta, teams who participate in Evolution receive points which qualify them for Ascension which is in December.
The teams already in VCT China or selected will not be receiving points in Evolution, so this tournament is only vital to smaller organizations like ASE and TYLOO.

- For teams that eventually will get partnered later on, they are here for extra practice and some cash
- For teams that didnt get partnered, they continue collecting points from this EVO series that grants them a seat at Ascension tournament
