Hey guys,

I’m a new valorant player, coming from CSGO. I just started playing this week. No comp matches yet, just trying to familiarize myself with spray patterns, what guns are good/bad, DMing, etc. So far I like the valorant community, the CS community has a reputation of being pretty aids so it’s refreshing to see VLR’s community is a little different from HLTV’s.

Anyways I got some questions regarding the game, and I’ll try to make them concise.

  1. What are the main guns to learn? From my understanding, the Phantom, Spectre, OP, Judge, Classic, and Ghost are the only ones I should probably worry about. Is this accurate? I was watching steel’s stream and he said he feels like the Bucky is better than the judge.... isn’t the Bucky essentially a Nova and a Judge is an XM?
  2. Where can I go to learn map callouts?
  3. Where can I go to learn about each agent in depth? Pretty much all I know currently is Jett = Awp Abuse agent, Sova = Wallhacks, and Killjoy’s apparently broken? I’d imagine there’s a lot more to this, if someone could point me in the right direction to get an understanding of the agents I’d Appreciate it.
  4. Where’s the main hub players go to in order to find some good practice and meet other grinders?
  5. Where can I learn about movement, economy, etc?
  6. Can someone explain the pistol rounds in this game? I see some people opt to buy ghosts no armor? Ghosts in valorant seem almost as good as P250s in CS from first impressions. Also, why isn’t the Frenzy as common? From watching some high level play I’ve only seen sinatraa using it.

Thanks my friends.

I think your questions are stupid but im open to help :;D

  1. Phantom and Specter is the mains weapons to use for "Buy and Eco" Abilities over weapons is only when playing supports otherwise the otheway around. OP is a no go its just not worth it if your not good enough you will just lose rounds.
  2. Calls will you learn when you play but if you want to go in depth use https://blitz.gg/valorant/maps
  3. https://blitz.gg/valorant/agents
  4. To find players that want to play competitive go to https://discord.gg/valorant or https://discord.gg/63jd8b and then there is a few for high ranked but you will get invited to those if you find the right people you need to be Dimond+ for those.
  5. Its pretty much the same as CSGO just easier because you can see the other teams money at all time. You will learn as the game progresses.
  6. Armor, abilites is the best way to play it for the most part because if you die you keep abilites anyways. Ghost if you comfortable enough in your aim still not recommended.

Hi, thanks for your reply my friend :)
Thanks for the helpful info because I did not know about the sites you linked. I tried joining the discord but the links expired. Could you send them one more time if that’s okay? Thank you very much again. You were very helpful.

  1. Phantom and Vandal are the main rifles. Phantom appears to be better in most situations unless your aim is extremly good, in which case you may feel comfortable using the vandal (see phantom as M4 and vandal as AK). In 2nd round (if you won first), halfbuys or force rounds you'll want to buy spectres or bulldogs (spectre = MP5, bulldog = FAMAS). In terms of pistols, ghost is probably the best gun all around, its a mix between usp and p250, classic is pretty trash though its right click is quite potent at close range. Sheriff is deagle equivalent but hard to use imo. The AWPerator is super meta right now and hard to shut down so if you're good with it you'll climb.

  2. Watch pro teams or indeed what the guy above said.

  3. Youtube vids I'm sure. The classes of agents are "initiator" = sets people up for fights (sova, breach), "controller"= changes the field of the map/influences sight lines (omen, brimstone, viper), "sentinels" = Basically cs anchors (killjoy, cypher, sage), "duelists" = entryfraggers/self-sufficient kits (jett, phoenix, raze, reyna). You basically always want a good mix of these on your team.

  4. Some discords. Find a local one

  5. Youtube + watch pro teams

  6. It depends on your agent. The abilities don't cost the same for different agents so you see people buy stuff based on the agent and map. For example, Omen can buy a ghost, a flash and 1 of his teleports, making his kit nearly complete on pistol round. on raze, most people will buy more utility since it is fairly strong, and then buy armor and stick with classic. Think about what utility you want and then see how much you have left for pistols and whether sacrificing utility is worth it to get a ghost (which is much stronger than a classic).

Thanks for the reply! Sorry for my late reply, I have been afk lately.
Viper looks awesome & it looks like she isn’t picked often. I think I will try her first.
