WHY HATE ON CHINA TEAMS??? GENUINE QUESTION
im chinese btw
it's unfortunate the 2 or 3 China slots were removed from 2021 Asia LCQ then, If china was introduced early in 2021 instead of 2022, China could've had their league in 2022 and maybe get their franchise in 2023 just like everyone else then. At least china most likely gonna get their franchise next year, so no one will complain 2024 every region will make the 16 team international turney.
they need to fight for it first
Thats 1 opportunity to qualify for international tournaments in 2 WHOLE years. (0 Direct Slot)
Now:
FGC VALORANT Invitational 2023: Act 1 (for 2 slots)
FGC VALORANT Invitational 2023: Act 2 extra turney
Valorant Champions 2023: China Qualifier (16 team Swiss Format turney for the 1 last spot in champions)
what more do they have to fight for?
I do feel bad for OCE and especially MENA
OCE have their teams removed in 2021 LCQ as well, because they were integrated to NA. Also OCE would've got a franchise slot if ORDER didn't filed bankruptcy. OCE geographical area and player base just really isn't favourable and should be more integrated to Asia.
MENA should also be more integrated into EU more, the representation there is very lacking, but EMEA is too western heavy and just gave up on them.
China in general have contributed so much into Asia E-sports in general, even you should be happy with China involvement in Asia valorant for international events onwards. Luckily this is riot, they're not giving western teams extra slots unlike other games, it gives balance slots for Asia and western teams.
I do think it's definitely weird, riot didn't even try to justify it, they just kinda did it and said next to nothing about it.
I don't hate the chinese teams, and I think everyone's underrating them, but I can understand the animosity coming from people annoyed that their favorite team had to fight tooth and nail to maybe not even qualify to tokyo while two teams in china just get a free pass in a less competitive region
Because Chinese teams basically get a free pass for Masters and Champions while other teams have to work their butts off to get there. It's kinda unfair if you ask me. Moreover the Chinese teams (maybe other than EDG) are bad and don't deserve to play in a high-stakes international tournament.
At least Riot could've included one Chinese org in franchising instead of 3 Korean teams
Western people hates china bcs of free slots but also they call chinese teams as "TRASH". If chinese teams are trash then why are they mad china been given free slots? Isn't that the best case for them so their teams can advance easily after defeating a chinese team? These people just hates China in general but mask it with the overused and old excuse of "we don't hate chinese ppl, we just hate the government" so pay them no heed and just ignore them
I think the hate is because they're given free slots while other region teams have to like fight for the spots. But I don't hate it too much cause in a way it helps these teams who qualify to get more exposure to these tournaments and improve their scene and also viewerships so I don't hate it too much.
(ignored my england) i think ppl dont like cause most teams need to be franchised to be in master or champions but china also got 3 slot teams to champs same like other franchised it just not fair for other region cause they need to work hard and defeated s tier teams to got slot for master and champs but china just need to play in A-B tier to got slot for master and champs (ALSO IT DOESNT MATTER IF CHINA STRONG REGION OR NOT CAUSE THE FACT IS THEY NOT A FRANCHISED TEAMS SO WHY THEY GOT SAME SLOT LIKE OTHER FRANCHISED TEAMS ITS NOT FAIR , THIS IS MY POINT)
Everyone's complaining about China getting 2 spots for Masters and 3 for Champs, but my question is why doesn't Riot increase the number of teams per tournament? Why 12 teams for Masters and not 16? With more slots (say one more per region, and the last one can be given to a team based on a certain metric idk) then I don't think people would be complaining nearly as much about China "stealing" slots.
I know that it's Riot's intention to increase tourney sizes as franchising grows, but I feel like even now a 16-team Masters and a 20/22-team Champs would see a lot more competition, viewership, and obviously money
