Cause I think a lot of teams are in position to get atleast 5 wins
Noodle [#5]you need 7/9 to GUARANTEE playoffs, but 6 is pretty much always enough except in the extreme case where the top seven teams get 6 wins each and the last three teams get 2/1/0 wins respectively
no, 5 wins is enough for you to guarantee you playoffs lol
hanafuuji [#6]no, 5 wins is enough for you to guarantee you playoffs lol
it just isn’t though. for example, you could have
6-3, 5-4, 5-4, 5-4, 5-4, 5-4, 5-4, 4-5, 3-6, 2-7
and one team with 5 wins would be eliminated

why tf would I spend my time thinking about that lmao

Alright I did the math so apparently for you to guarantee playoffs you need to have at least 7 wins, because even with 6 wins you can still get knocked out of the playoffs with a bracket like this (keep in mind that this is very unlikely obviously and it's not possible anymore for all of the current 3 international leagues):
the formula was if your number of wins when get multiplied by 7 has the total of less than 45 then that number is possible to be outside of playoffs, so yeah as far as I'm aware 7 wins is the minimum amount of wins for you to GUARANTEE a playoff spot. CMIIW
And for you to BE in the playoffs you TECHNICALLY can be there with only 2 wins, with the hypothetical bracket looking like this (again this is hypothethical, obviously this is very unlikely and also not possible anymore with all of the 3 current international leagues):
also CMIIW

TL;DR: You need to have 7 wins to guarantee a spot in the playoffs and 2 wins for it to be possible for you to qualify for playoffs
I don't think your first scenario is possible since more than 1 team can't go 0-9
Sprouts [#15]I don't think your first scenario is possible since more than 1 team can't go 0-9
changed it, I forgot about that lmao I just based it off of the total wins or losses needs to be 45 for the hypothetical bracket to be possible

This second scenario isn't possible. Just logically think about it for two seconds. How are five teams going 1-8? How are five going 8-1? This can't happen if it's a round robin.

wait really? let's divide the 2nd scenario into 2 groups the 8-1 one and the 1-8 one, can't like team 1 just lose against team 2 and team 2 lose against team 3 and so on until team 5 and they would lose against team 1, and for the 1-8 group same thing but with wins instead of losses
idk maybe my brain are too fried rn I didn't really think this through

Lets go with the 5 team group at 1-8. For each of them to go 1-8, that means they've beaten a single team and lost to every other team in the league. 5 teams are A, B, C, D, E
If the one win for each of the teams goes like:
A>B
B>C
C>D
D>E
E>A
That must mean each of these teams have lost to every other team they've played. So what about B vs D? D has already beaten E and B has already beaten C, but both teams still have to lose for this to make sense. So it's not possible.

oh shoot thanks, this is more complicated than I thought, what do you think is the solution? is it possible if it's like multiple 2-7s instead of 1-8s?

Yea, I think five teams going 2-7 is possible.
edit: spelling
Ic4rusYam2 [#14]I can't see Loud or FNATIC finishing 9-0, but DRX has already faced pretty much every good team in the pacific, what's left is rest, so DRX 9-0
But who tf is supposed to beat loud now? Nrg???
Pengu12 [#23]But who tf is supposed to beat loud now? Nrg???
Plot twist: Loud loses to KRU and ends 9-1 and this is the only win for KRU ending 1-9.
