You’re right. If he’s innocent, the results of the investigation should not cause him to be rejected. Likewise, if he is guilty, the results of the investigation (probably “not guilty” in a legal sense due to evidence that holds up in a court of law) should not cause him to be accepted. But they will, and that’s how this shit works, unfortunately.
