do u guys think gc is bad for women?
Sentinels_BRAZIL [#3]At long term, yes.
Ideally, GC wouldn’t even exist long-term. It just has to exist long enough for the gender ratio to even out a bit
Mjtchell [#4]excluding women entirely is bad long term
They're not excluded, they are just not good enough to join partnership teams or ascension teams
acels1 [#2]why would it be bad
Some people think it excludes marginalized genders from tier 1 competition and keeps them stuck in competition that is worse than tier 1
The reality is that marginalized genders are already fully excluded, but these tournaments give those people a chance to compete and develop in a similar scene to the tier 2 players. It brings spotlight to these players that very much deserve it, but that won't get signed to any tier 1 teams. The entire goal of this scene is to eventually be one competitive scene in which there is a diverse group of players, but people fail to recognize that.
Valgod [#8]They're not excluded, they are just not good enough to join partnership teams or ascension teams
and why is that?
Possibly because women are treated different inside and out of games?
Women are discouraged from player because of toxic players?
Historically video games have been male dominated because the social views that video games have had in the past?
It's not always as simple as you think, but we all know you feel comfort in being so small minded.

it benefits the majority which is what riot wants

and what does that have to do with the game changers players, not one game changers player is good enough to get signed on a partnered team no matter how they are treated

GC gives the space for women to develop in video games rather than constantly feeling outnumbered
Noodle [#7]Ideally, GC wouldn’t even exist long-term. It just has to exist long enough for the gender ratio to even out a bit
The way is it, looks like It's going to be a long term project.
I'm almost sure they cannot transform it in something good in 2-3 years, since it's going to make GC players comfortable since there's not a big competition between them. They should be already trying to fit into Mixed Events.
People can only evolve in competitions, you need to suffer for it otherwise you won't evolve, GC scene looks way more comfortable than mixed teams, just look at Trent and bunch of T1 players that could not even get a job.
In competitions you give the winner medal only to the first place and you will not give medals to the losers, this also applies to money and salary.

lmfao that makes no sense thats the same as if japan wanted to isolate themselves from apac competition because they sucked, how do you think that will develop girls to get on mens level they just get to play in their little safe space without real competition thats the only thing its doing lol

thousands of years of patriarchy doesnt get fixed in a couple years

how is it isolating themselves if they also compete in the main circuit?
that's not an equal comparison

if they want to be better maybe play and practice where theres better players makes sense to me

Mixed events are competitive, they are considered the best players in the scene (mixed event scene)
It makes no sense for you to pay HIGH salary to GC, salary is based on Marketing, Skill, Entertainment.
Tenz receive high salary because he does ENTERTAINMENT, high engagement at marketing, and he is also skilled enough.
It makes NO SENSE to pay for GC a high salary compared to males, GC is way more comfortable since is not everyone who can compete and steal your job.
Riot is trying to fit woman in e-sports, but even womans doesn't watch GC scene, all woman I know prefer to follow male scene (mixed events)
They don't even support their own scene, since they're just not good enough and it's not entertainment enough for them.

This is a very common phenomenon actually, like how there are successful women in industries dominated by men who just say “oh well if I made it then why can’t you do it as well?” instead of trying to make the younger women feel welcomed and supported. Asking women in Valorant to just go for it in a competitive scene where almost all of their peers are men isn’t going to do much to grow the scene, sure you might get a couple women who break through and join a top team, but you’re going to discourage a lot more people than you’re going to help

They have women participate in both you know that right?
It's to give opportunity for women to get better in their own scene and also in turn they'll get better in the main scene as well.
You somehow spelt it out for yourself and completely missed the point

waiting to see huge development

They can, but somehow woman doesn't give a shit about Mixed Events IMO.
Since they're just too comfortable studying their enemies team from GC events and don't even give a shit anymore to mixed events, that's what I'm saying.
Edit: seems like you're missing a point here.
In T2 scene players are supposed to learn how to deal with UNEXPECTED SITUATIONS, FAST THINKING, ETC.
While GC scene since it's a small scene with big prize they're already into studying teams to win, but they're neglecting this part of skill of their scene.
Male teams gap will just keep increasing since they need to suffer into T2 scene until they're good enough to start "studying game" properly.

What's your alternative, dumbass? Force them to partnership teams to get more hate?
Valgod [#28]What's your alternative, dumbass? Force them to partnership teams to get more hate?
no treat them like normal players lmfao no special treatment, its already becoming pretty normalized for girls to game if the toxicity is whats preventing them something should be done to that and i feel like we are already going to that direction but it will always be there its the internet so either deal with it or stop playing
