The IGL dilemma

I want to ask some questions of the IGL dilemma in Valorant.

• why are there so few IGLs in Valorant?

• why are younger pros not being encouraged into learning the IGL skill, since there is a high demand for them?

• why is there such a massive monopoly of good coaches and IGL duos?

-why is there no one teaching young pros to become igls?

there are 3 IGL's in this game that truly deserve respect like no other. its ANGE1, Redgar, and FNS. truly, they are the only ones who are pioneers in Valorant. behind them they have D00mbr0s, engh and chet who know the fundamentals so well, in this game.

PS: I don’t think boaster is a standout IGL, maybeee it’s mini’s fault but unless the duo is broken, there won’t be a change in fnatic’s performance even after franchise happens. It’s an unpopular opinion but I would like you to keep an open mind on my takes.

PPS: i think those mentioned above are a tier above all current t1 IGL’s in this game.

most good igls are older than the average valorant pro and most igls come from CSGO with years of experience. becoming a good igl isn't something you just pick up all of a sudden, you learn how to be a top tier igl over the course of your career which i think is why we dont see many. for many valorant pros this is their first esports and range from ages of 17-21 so i dont think it'll be for a bit until we see many new igls appearing. i do think there are some others that do deserve credit like koldamenta, bonecold, hazed, vanity but again these are players that mostly came from csgo with much more experience

Add Koldamenta to that list. Dude came from Pubg, with no tactical shooter experience and decided to learn the role from day 1. Grinding he built the entire first Acend roster (Acend was his org in Pubg). He won Masters 1 last year with them. Then brought G2 to semifinals of a LAN beating prime Sen and reaching semis. And now he has made it to another I international LAN with a second team (Only other IGL in doing so is Vanity)

I think there's just so many reasons why there's so little good IGLs and heres 2 main ones that came to mind:

1. Not only do you have to be good individually like every pro (even someone like FNS has better mechanics than like >95%? of all Valorant players) but you also have to understand and see the game in very high level, be creative, and even in a lot of cases you also need certain leader mentality. And you have to be able to do all that during games.
2. Its hard to become good IGL without much of experience. Most respected IGLs are pretty old and IGL is just that role where you might peak when you are 30 year old. Just look at someone like Karrigan. So its overall just really hard role to start with or become. And you can't really practice it as effectively as other roles.

and overall Valorant is so young still

It's so much work to be an IGL in the Valorant pro scene. So all these up and coming talents can only play duelists and don't understand the game at a high enough level.
