do you think it would be possible we ever see one?
win:
Yes. And these teams aren't helping the sustainability. MIBR isnt doing shit with the funding that VCT is giving them (I heard they were using it in other esports instead) and GE isn't well liked by the Indian fans because they are both failing as a team and not fielding an Indian roster.
i did... thats what a winners final is
(My ranking:
just because a tournament is unpredictable doesnt make it S tier. just because i say its not S tier doesn't mean I think its shit though. I think Champs 24 probably places around the B tier for me. Like its a good tournament and i've enjoyed my time watching it, but in the grand scheme of things i have to think "will people remember this tournament for years to come and was it that significant"... no?
2024 champs is DEFINIATELY not S tier. that is recent bias.
For me its pansy and hypoc for pure gameplay commentary value, or sideshow and brenan for entertainment value whilst still being able to deliver high quality gameplay analysis
a. Most capsule are around 30usd a pop (correct me if im wrong i dont remember VP prices well), whilst you can get sticker capsules on sales for about 30 cents a pop. its alot more easier to buy a sticker capsule, than to make a commitment to buying a vct capsule
b. There is alot more incentive to get a capsule because it is gambling. dont get the sticker you want on the first try, oh well just buy another one, its cheap anyways. vct capsules you buy once and you get what you want
c. Most people will really only get one vct capsule at most to support their favourite, meanwhile there is an entire segment of the community in cs who just collect items and stickers, so of course they are gonna whale and try to get all the shiny holos and gold stickers for each team
teams seeded 5 - 12 (aka teams that didnt make champs) will play the first round of upper bracket and the winners of those will face seeds 1 - 4 (champs teams). so essentially all the orgs that qualed for champs this year get a bye in kickoff next year
like i said in a different comment. blizzard introduced role queue as a cop-out because they had no idea how to balance the game and/or kill the GOATS meta. overwatch at that time was so unbalanced and they had no idea what to do with it. meanwhile valorant is (compared to alot of other games) quite balanced. sure there are definitely metas and weaker/stronger agents, but i genuinely believe that you can make any agent work on any map with any composition
i will still never understand OW's move to 5v5. "the game was too chaotic and hard to keep track of" BUT THATS WHAT MADE THE GAME FUN. it was chaotic and fun
Role queue I believe 99% of the time, is for developers to use as a cop-out when they have to admit that without it, they can't balance their game
As someone who watched my former favourite game (overwatch) get ripped of all player originality and creativity because of the introduction of role queue.
kindly... fuck off
role queue doesn't fix shit
W team, but its C9... they'll find some way to fuck it up
I think that's just an unfortunate characteristic of the americas and emea region. Although its gotten better, there is still a slight stubbornness to make changes and take risks (god dammit they still consider deadlock a gimmick). Meanwhile CN and Pacific are regions built around taking risks and trying new things, so they tend to adapt to changes alot faster and better.
I still feel like GENG is one of the best rosters in the world rn. It was just an unfortunate loss in the groups that ended their year. There is no reason why they shouldn't give this roster another try. After all, they won Shanghai. Also ngl I didn't think they would win Champs, they just take some really weird uncharacteristic losses.
TS at the end of Split 2 started to look REALLY good and if they work out the kinks and really refine their team, this could be a team with potential gold next year. I still think they should've won over Talon for the fourth slot in Pacific.
Going into next year, I personally believe this is what each team has to do going into next year.
Keep the roster: GENG, DRX, Secret
Keep the roster but maybe change something up: Talon, RRQ, PRX
A couple players in and out: T1,
Lots of changes needed: DFM, ZETA
Blow up the roster: GE, BLEED
You can't simply underestimate a Chinese team because there are from the Chinese region as a whole. Although I do still think out of all four regions they are as a whole still the weakest, it's not by the massive margin that everyone makes it out to be. The way these guys are being treated like royalty in China, the budget that they get for staging and lan matches like their Stage 2 finals, this is a region that REALLY wants to win. You can't simply count out a team anymore at an international event because they are from VCT CN.
as an fps player, and someone who has played osu for 6 years (https://osu.ppy.sh/users/14447065)
osu is good for wrist warmups
not for aim training
Lakia and Crashies have the same amount of trophies
I mean tbf, going into kickoffs they were a feared team (this was before they choked the first half of the year away)
Kick off:
Champs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGQFpwxfRzU
ok why did that last line have to go so fucking hard
i mean at the start of the tournament i would've said the same. the team is known in china for choking when it matters most and the only player on that team with international experience is Biank. however these guys are really proving everyone wrong, they look GOOD.
SEN (granted they played GENG) just did not look good at all. GENG were just reading them like a book and it wasnt even close, right now as well their mental doesnt look in it properly judging from the press conference. i believe fpx will beat them in the lower bracket
S: GEN, FNC
A: G2, LEV
B: EDG, TH, DRX, TRACE
C: VIT, FUT, FPX, TLN, KRU
D: PRX, BLG, SEN
teams on higher tier i believe would beat teams on a lower team on a regular day.
teams on the same tier i believe could go either way or are generally unpredictable
Talon is so fun to watch cause it reminds me of early day PRX. They play like its a comp match, they play whatever the hell they want and its just so much fun to watch. They are the new fun team of Pacific.
The only one im not too certain on is Kingg (he looks different during his earlier clip) but the rest seem pretty credible. Same thing with boaster actually, looks a bit too different
Guess I will add it then, also another comment said that the facial hair is visible in his ace later on
i can see aspas and tenz but i dont see demon1 in that, i might be delusional but did he ever have a beard and mustache
cool i will add that to the list thank you

edit: anything with a ? im unsure about
Group A: probably the most definitive group to play out, fnc and drx qual easy, kru and blg can put up a decent fight and MAYBE an upset but I doubt it. fnc and drx have shown pretty heavy dominance, whilst kru and blg have looked okay but have shown alot more weakness than strength.
Group B: HOLY SHIT GROUP OF DEATH, both masters winners this year, masters shanghai runner ups and a team that has GREAT potential for an upset in FPX. This group will be nail biting until the very end. I genuinely think any team can make it out or lose in this group, yes that includes FPX (maybe a bit lower hopes of making it out but i think there is a chance)
Group C: This group on paper should be definitive. But in reality I think talon still is very big question mark in the strategy because of the introduction of primmie and their willingness to play unusual comps, Vitality has ALOT to show after basically being mostly middle of the pack for most of the year and Trace is a very underrated Chinese team. I think the only guarantee would probably be LEV but if there is any group for there to be a massive upset, it is this group.
Group D: This is the group to watch in my opinion. I think this is another group where you can expect some major upsets. All of these teams have shown dominance in some shape or form this year, some earlier, some more recent. EDG is still looking to redeem themselves after their performance in Shanghai, FUT have shown some very good highs but also some lows, G2 has very high hopes of making a deep run and PRX is a team that although is definately not as strong going into champs as it was last year, is still a team that you can never count out.
i think its because the team has been together for a long time now, but teams like DRX have shown that sometimes despite having good synergy and a long history, sometimes a change is needed. like when DRX dropped stax and zest, everyone was calling them delusional. but now they look like possible favourites going into champs
thats what im thinking, champs will really decide if he stays or not imo. even if not though, i wouldnt doubt that EVERY team in EMEA and more would be chasing him if he doesnt stay
At what point, do we say that Hiro is actually a better choice for FNC over Leo, or at all. I hate to ask it but fnc just look so good atm with him
Its really fun and exciting watching how promising this scene is. There is so much talent and potential here, especially since its no longer just "The EDG region". Give it another year or so and this region WILL be on par with the rest of the world. Also no other region can compete with CN's fanbase. Almost every single game has a massive sold out stadium. The only region that I think can compete is Pacific in that aspect.
The off season hasnt even started yet my guy, chill, there is still like 6 months+ for decisions
i genuinely believe if he was subbing for ANY other player in any other team, Hiro would stay over who they are subbing for. But its just the unfortunate fact that he is replacing one of the best players in the world. I don't think they will keep him as a 6th man afterwards, his talent and potential is way to high to be such, but I think after Champs/whenever Leo comes back, there are gonna be ALOT of teams after him so I don't worry for his future.
They can def make it to champs, but purely based off experience and how relatively new this roster is, i dont think they will make top 4. MAYBE playoffs but they will be an early out there imo
trace i wouldnt say was bad in kickoff and stage one, they only just barely missed out on madrid and shanghai.
fpx i thought have looked fine but they are slowing down just a tad
s1mon is definately an interesting pick up but im really happy that EDG has shown willingness to make changes. will take some time though to fully mesh out.
drg i cant really comment on
rip no nrg vs blg rematch
