It's really less to do with VCT and more to do with the fact that TenZ is what everyone thinks of when they think Valorant. He's the first radiant ever, first insane peformance ever, he's worked through bad teams and is still one of the best ITW.
aspas is a better player and he's the best VCT player we've ever seen fs, but he doesn't have nearly the same level of impact on the game as TenZ
i will be sincere with you i think you guys only have this tenz image in NA, because i can show you the opinions of tenz in brazil/latam and we just consider him just another player, his prime is already past, and back in 2023 we called him washed, nobody here thinks of valorant and thinks of tenz
And just to add to this sentinels 2023 with Zekken,marved,tenz,sacy,pancada this insane roster didnt make playoffs was absurd to us and we hated him alot at that time because this was a super team back then, you could say that marved wasnt a true IGL but those 5 players should atleast make playoffs and you know who was the worst player by far on that roster.
Yeah, but phrasing it that why doesn't really highlight the impact he's had on the esport. He's obviously quite popular, but he also performed well in the esport and has returned to insane form, despite having a downturn in his career.
That's also something that's underrated about TenZ, he's gone through a lot as a player and as person, but he's continued to play, despite getting shitted on constantly by people who hate him because he's popular.
Again, I'm really not trying to downplay how good aspas is, but TenZ has drawn so much support to the esport, and tbh, he's probably the model player.
to what player he would be a model bro? he was only good in 2021 for 2 years he didnt win a single thing in VCT, to any pro back in 2022 in NA the GOAT was EL DIABLO, 2023 the GOAT in NA was demon1, now in 2024 he won a masters finally but he is now on the verge of not even making playoffs.
you can say he is the most popular person of all time but the word GOAT he is not fit to be called that, every single esport in the world only uses the word GOAT for the best player of all time regardless of fame.

Goat (IGL) is a debate between FNS and saad, legit no other real argument. If you say boaster look at the man when he doesnt have mini coaching 💀

Aspas: consistently mechanically amazing, great placements in tournaments, great at his role, and great even when with different teams/different players. Really no need to go in depth
Yay: idgaf what you think of him, and even though he has fallen off recently, the OAT in goat means OF ALL TIME. Regardless of opinion it is simply the truth, the fact of the matter, that yay was HIM during the chamber era of valorant. During his peak it was nothing but absolute nukes of performances, only RARELY doing poorly or getting diffed, all over the period of a TON of matches since the team usually ran deep in tournaments
TenZ: Similar situation as Yay but with (surprisingly) less contrarians/haters. Also the added bonus of doing really well rn (even tho there was a big period of dog performances between now and the first masters win). Like yay, in his era, TenZ was him. simple as 👍. issue is that tenz era of goat tier performances, was a lot shorter than Yays or aspas’s
Less isnt an option YET i think, he needs a bit longer to cook imo idk. Def could be argued to be goat though in the future
Now i will reject other ones you listed as goat contenders:
cNed: low-key a fluke champs run, diet Yay (except neither of them have been on a diet i think), he wants to be nats so bad with his prism op, fell off HARD with jett nerf, and was never really THAT good with rifles/pistols/jett knives, good sure but nowhere near yay tenz or aspas in their primes.
Chronicle: good, consistent, multiple nationals wins, yes, good util, yes, smartish player, yes, but never stand-out performances, never hard carry like yay/tenz/aspas (or even Less), just good, maybe great, but not goat. Just does his job consistently at an above average level, but, never more than that
Forsaken: kinda like chronicle but better aim and flashier but slightly “dumber” (riskier) but thats also just apac. Tbh maybe all he needs is one or two international lan wins
