that's not what we see in csgo at all. old players get replaced by younger players every year. some older players do manage to be able to stay in tier 1 on experience, but most cannot.
because they got destroyed on 2nd map, because c9 was trash on mirage, but he was the best on the first. but yeah, he was an idiot who didn't care about pro play and the region was in a shit state at the time. but he was a talented player, who on his day could compete with anyone, as shown in the matches I linked. everyone here acting like he's a shit player with little to no talent at all.

?????? He was extremely talented, which lead to him being a good player, could have been a great player if he worked on his game. Cloud9 had a team in the summer of 2015 that went to the grand final of 3 big LAN tournaments in a row, beating some of the best teams in the world. That team was powered by the fragging of skadoodle and shroud as their two best players. Like I said, you only watched from 2016, you don't know.

Shroud was a good player around 2014-15, maybe even in 2016, showed brief signs of being a great player. Could not stay on top because 1. players kept getting better as years went on. 2. he did not put in the time necessary to stay on top. Those are the facts. shroud was at his best in 2015 from an international competition perspective. If you only watched from 2016 onwards, you can't possibly know.
People actually acting like shroud was a sanji level player, which is just false. s1mple bottom fragged/2nd bottom fragged in ESL cologne 2016 major final, and the Faceit 2018 major final.
