holding accountable vs requesting change is semantics sure, I guess you could say "I'm holding him accountable for not holding himself accountable" but it just sounds off to me. The logic is that he would read this, go "wow I didn't care but maybe I should since I'm alienating myself from the community" and see the all the attention put on his actions. Your original statement of "they aren't accountable" is true, they are not, but they should be if they want to continue being a successful company. Companies have shut down because of people's complaints and lack of revenue from them due to others seeing the complaints and not using the service. While I doubt this post will have that affect, I think it's important to at least get the message out there for those who care and hopefully to Diogo himself, but it seems like that will not happen. on the boycotting note, his newest article had someone literally comment "not reading because it's by ds_santos" so at least someone is doing it, but obviously that doesn't matter since they clicked through. if someone can't bring up what they find wrong with what someone did just because it won't start a full on boycott, then no change would be made in the world since most of the time the starting point is not that extreme for these issues. No point in commenting further, you are a 0 star who's entire profile is arguing.
I'm not "holding him accountable" I'm telling him to hold himself accountable for his actions and take some responsibility for alienating himself from the community, I clearly know he doesn't care that's why I posted it so maybe he changes his mind. Doesn't seem like it will happen though. Employees are not accountable to a company's fans, but they for sure should hold themselves accountable if they want to be liked by their fans which is extremely important since if no one who is consuming your product likes you, they might stop consuming the product reducing revenue. I appreciate the feedback, just don't think it was well placed.
thank you h786
you should feel worse for Diogo considering he will not address these issues and continue to get hate on every single post he makes.
very unfortunate he didn't take this opportunity.
final bump, after this I give up unfortunately. I thought by writing something informational with genuine feedback Diogo would be mature and I would get a response, but it seems like I was foolish. I was hoping maybe he would change his outlook on how he's affecting this site and the users and his own image, but it seems he does not care. Very unfortunate. Thank you everyone who read through and gave feedback as well as pushed for change.

I thought you were Diogo at first you scared me with that response

comparing james to a predator who in that post immediately attacked james (mythVLR, not the other guy) making a comment about VLR is insane to me
james is also an amateur writer and has taken responsibility for things getting out of hand and addressed it
My plan was never to reach this extend of drama and do apologize for the mess created on the site on my behalf.
stop with the dumb posts
I aren't think that's the solution..........
agreed, just posting why people are upset not saying I agree with it :)
The problem a lot of "mainstream" journalists have with this kind of amateur content is the community reaction discrediting the long and difficult process it takes to produce actually trustworthy content and the confusion between the two. Its a similar battle they've had with the kind of "twitter journalism" produced by the likes of the Jake Luckys of the world. Trust takes months if not years to build and a single incident to destroy which is why professional investigative journalists spend days or weeks making sure they have multiple primary sources and working with editors that not only improve the writing but also guide the decision making process of whether something is publishable. The best investigative journalists have folders of unpublished reports (some that happened and some that didn't) that could have gotten them clicks, but were too risky to stake their reputation to.
yes the wedding commencement will happen once he takes accountability

still learning about life like most of the people in this website.
then he should take this opportunity to learn rather than blow off any responsibility or fault
do you have a video or something for the setup (or for harbor)?
I'd love to implement it into my matches :) I've been playing omen/astra

ahh makes sense, then I'm guessing something similar to Reyna's dismiss. That's what I took from the card at least!
good point, I'll update the post to reflect that.
Understandable POV that it's a bit cherry picked- however I think it's important to recognize that the phrasing at the beginning isn't well done and potentially harmful. If you want to read my take on it you can read https://www.vlr.gg/271302/what-did-ds-santos-do#17 onwards!
tl;dr ds_santos needs to take accountability for his negligence of community displeasure due to his actions
The last couple days ds_santos, a writer for VLR who I will now refer to as "Diogo", has made some problematic statements. Rather than take accountability for those statements, Diogo has repeatedly brushed them off. I will go over what statements and behaviors I personally find problematic, link back to those statements and top of that grab statements from fellow VLR members showing concern over this behvaior.
To start, Diogo made this tweet criticizing regular poster on VLR forums "james_ff". Criticizing someone is understandable, especially if done well and considering Diogo's position in the field. However, the way he went about it was taken by many as immature. Diogo in this tweet said lines such as "this is a forum dweller who spends his day checking player streams" and "this is not journalism, this is someone that needs to leave his parents' basement." Anyone can see that these Tweets are out of line considering the extent of influence james_ff has, and on top of that, these statements are not criticism but rather just hatred and insults towards james_ff.
This is not appropriate behavior for someone who is supposed to be a source of news and information, especially considering that james_ff is trying to become one himself. Rather than taking any accountability for making those comments, he doubled down with the statement that: "James is an absolute clown." This was not taken well, and maybe community members pointed out that it felt like "journalism was being gatekept" and the response was immature.
Afterwards, Diogo yet again rather than taking accountability posted on twitter. This time, Diogo quoted VLR posts and comments with sarcastic statements such "the weight of the community's opinion is more than i can bear to stand." This response, at least to me, shows lack of care for what the community thinks which I find concerning considering the community is what runs the site.
Expanding on the lack of care for what the community thinks, when Diogo made a comment on his thread about rhyme, he said "thankfully the naysayers don't pay me." They are the life and blood of the website, and I find making light of valid criticism from the people who make the site as lively as it is and bring in the traffic is immature and crass. This Tweet and that comment are still up and has not been edited.
Finally, all the james_ff drama cooled down. However, this was unfortunately not the end of the issues Diogo has caused this last week. In tragic news, KRU player "DaveeyS" passed away due to decompensation. While many in the community mourned, Diogo sent out a tweet starting with the line that "Twisten's passing hit me a great deal heavier than DaveeyS, maybe due to how little I watched the Americas." While the Tweet also stated that "sitting down at my desk today to learn this was disheartening," it left a bad taste in many people's mouths.
Many people posted that they thought that the Tweet very much lacked empathy and was poorly written considering the circumstances, but unfortunately this was yet another time Diogo did not take any action for the community's displeasure. Rather, he posted "hi" showing absolutely 0 concern for the community's concerns over his Tweet and taking 0 accountability for the way he phrased a tragic event.
Due to this, when Diogo made a comment on why George Geddes was hated, he immediately got downvoted and replied to people criticizing the way he handled the DaveeyS situation with comments such as "I got flamed by an echo chamber" and that "I don't know how to live like this, I'm utterly shattered" to people downvoting him and saying he should listen to his own community. Yet again showing his lack of connection to the brand he works for and not taking accountability for his actions.
Personally, I am not asking for the removal of Diogo as a writer, I enjoy his articles and I think he is valuable to the growth of Valorant and the reporting scene. However, his harmful attitude towards people attempting to do the same work as him and his lack of concern for the community's criticism as well is concerning to me. All I am asking for is some accountability taken for the actions that have transpired over this last week. All I can hope is that you see this, Diogo, and change your mind on some of the statements you have made and your outlook on how important it is to foster community respect and understanding rather than alienating yourself. I have tried my best.
Thank you.
TL;DR - ds_santos needs to take accountability for his negligence of community displeasure due to his actions
the player card teaser for the new agent is called "bulletproof"
some sort of temporary invincibility (maybe supposed to be like Reyna but pro compatible?) or extra armor (25-50 extra?)
I honestly think you're baiting at this point considering the points of "you expect him to be formal, prim and proper for the rest of his life" and "no one expects their twitter to more popular than the articles they write" as well as "he has publicly critiqued, but never has it been an official article that interferes with his job"
let me deconstruct this for you and then /closed unless you want to take what I'm saying completely out of context again
you expect him to be formal, prim and proper for the rest of his life
If you are trained as a plumber, I expect you to know how to fix pipes. if you're trained as a "journalist", I expect you to know how to write.
no one expects their twitter to more popular than the articles they write
this site is dead compared to Twitter and how much attention leaks and news gets on there. you have no clue what you are talking about.
he has publicly critiqued, but never has it been an official article that interferes with his job
not the point I made at all, completely skewed my point. The point was that he should know how to write in a non-offensive matter when addressing situations like this considering his job is writing, and him criticizing others while sending out tweets with that low of a standard is gross to me. nothing to do with "an official article that interferes with his job" whatever the fuck you mean.
/closed please stop farming downvotes
where it's posted doesn't really matter and Twitter is used for news all the time.
I'm pointing out that his entire job and career is based off him writing properly and having good writing etiquette and he proceeded to write something that bad. You would think considering it's his entire job he would know better, especially after he has publicly criticized others for their writing standards.
