Cost a bit differently vs Global servers I think?

This is due to the fixed ratio in VP Conversion, basically 1 RMB in Chinese server gets you 10 VP, but doing the same through the Global server (Hong Kong) gets you 13 or 12. So on same VP price the CN server is much more costly. To offset this issue they had to reduce VP cost

On CN server coming February 15th, This is likely due to the server launched just last July. Technically they missed out 2 champion skins

Has Riot ever brought back previous Champions skins for sale before? (for outside China servers?)

posted 10 months ago

They having a mobile companion app for the Chinese server exclusively

These allow you to add/find friends through the app, even things like check the daily skin rotation without having to access the game. LoL had a similar one for many years already as well

Open Qualifier winner got Disqualified for rule violation

a set of now deleted message were posted today on twitter by someone, involving what seems to be "Ringing" or basically Account Sharing (another player playing in place of another player in disguise)

Few hours before, FULL SENSE have made a statement that Apinya is now no longer with the team and they are ready to support any investigation needed, the player is suspected to be involved in this

a Semifinal place finisher was banned for LIFETIME from all tourney/activities due to caught using Illegal Hardware Peripherals

This is from the National Competition, which equals to VRC and VRL (one step below Challenger) which ends in a $70K LAN Tournament. Yes, $70K for what would be a below-Challengers event

We got our own version of Indian Forsaken I guess

out of nowhere, a Recruitment pic mentioning a roster for "VALORANT Mobile" for Wolves Esports is spotted today

in CN standards its not uncommon for CN orgs to put recruitment ahead of game's launch/release. Especially if its operated by Tencent (as it has happened once this year with the Apex Mobile clone) but this one is unable to verify if this is true.

on the sidenote, VAL Mobile has been recently rumored to showed up as earliest as Next Month.

From interview with Eric, Head of TJ Sports VCT department

each club in VCT CN has a minimum salary line for a team and a maximum salary line for a team.

During the transition to the VCT CN League next year, TJ will also pay close attention to all transfer situations and try its best to achieve a win-win situation for the club and players.

League also to start after the Chinese New Year

Also CN teams had only 3 year contract instead of 4 because they start the league 1 year late so every region permanent spot ends at 2026

Which also features a VCT Showmatch tournament, this year its BLEED NAVI ZETA and DFM

That's pretty huge considering this year they had a Showmatch collab, Marketing campaign in Indonesia and now Live performance on Riot's LAN event

pretty insane when considering this is with $240,000 on the line too (prize)
like its impossible to see any game in India came close to it (even bringing Free Fire back they would've been sweating, given FF's state globally is in decline)

Chart ranking of Most played games in China's Internet cafe September edition
(In this pic CrossFire [2007] is in 2nd Place, VAL in 5th and CS in 10th just only ahead of CrossFire HD Remaster)

Apparently CNVAL made it into Top 5 since launch in July and has always been there since then.

apparently it was because the AVL Thailand qualifier recieved very well
led to the country being granted another off-season event host, this is a SEA LAN btw

I think one key thing is they managed to get org to invest is what really stood out for me on their CNVAL plans

like: NiP? 4AM? AG? Lots of LPL & KPL teams?
sure the player quality is still far behind but that's what you expect when orgs cant even put full investment before approval because the govt ready to yeet you to hell for doing that (like what they did with PUBG for few months)

we see that being what both CrossFire and Perfect World's CS trying to get for the Mainland for so many years but it didnt really go explosive.

CF stuck themself with only 10 orgs in a franchise and pulled worse than overwatch moves by having no T2. While CS werent moving much with PPL (and the fact that to this day, Perfect World still doesnt have a True National Chinese league as PPL is All-Asian)

This VCT CN and EVO thing comes in to fill the void where

  • One game has no Actual Tier 2
  • The other has no Actual National League

This also tops with anything riot will sold well in CN (considering the even unsuccessful Wild Rift still nets 50M+ players monthly over there)

It cause so much effect CrossFire went on panic mode by suddenly announcing a rework of their whole franchising the next year tells a lot, when they refused to do it for so many years just because there's no one else to compete with them not even CS on the national esports scene

If they their buyout value equals to $8M (that equals to a KPL spot rn) then yep

40 Teams compete for 4 Spots in LAN Finals, where they will join Top 4 of EVO Act 1

Notably similar teams as last act, a few new teams
Wolves (that Wolves from Premier League) IS IN THIS ACT, they managed to found a roster just in time for Act 2

posted about a year ago

No, Wolves is looking to enter as on their own brand in China (this might mean Wolves will depart away from EG deals)

Wolves finally made a move to look for a Chinese VCT Roster

Wolves Esports Division started in China FIRST with FIFA so they practically going back to their esports home

as for Wolves results in Chinese division, basically they won in almost every game they made a roster in CN: Notably Their Honor of Kings team and their COD team

It would sound really funny if the scene ended up like CODM
( a Mobile game, but North America wins Worlds somehow )

Tho I believe this to not be the case this time for VALM especially with China+Riot combo just look at how they ran CrossFire Mobile over there

If we go by the closest comparable game (CODM) Top 3 region last year were NA NA BR CN

Sounds crazy but in Mobile Esports, there's totally none of this genre except CODM (Standoff & C-OPS were too small to draw anyone good in). Finally time for this genre to get more in Mobile (This & Rainbow 6)

They basically mixed Challenger and OFF//SEASON into one go

  • For teams that eventually will get partnered later on, they are here for extra practice and some cash
  • For teams that didnt get partnered, they continue collecting points from this EVO series that grants them a seat at Ascension tournament

Could be a lot by this point, TJ managed to gave Wild Rift League a 7.5M CNY ($1M) which is nearly doubled of LPL's Prize Pool

hard to predict, the highest bar set for a Chinese FPS league currently is CrossFire Franchising at $480K

posted about a year ago

Its simply named "National Competition"
For starters National Competition is Tencent's way of doing their grassroot scene in China, this includes tournaments at several levels

  • Provincial level tourney (state level in the US)
  • Internet cafe tourney
  • Tournaments hosted by Streaming Platforms
  • College or School Level tournaments

Then top teams from each path collide in a LAN Finals to determine a National Champion
in some games this will send teams to T2 Leagues

Now the prize pool... This is insane even for a Tencent standard on this model on other games

  • Provincial now named as Southern and Northern Divisionals: ¥400K ($55K)
  • Internet Cafes (no prize)
  • College/High School Championship: ¥600K ($82K)
  • Streaming Platforms Qualifiers: ¥500K ($68K)
  • Finals: ¥500K ($68K)

In total of ¥2M or basically $270K

on what's basically equivalent to VRC (e.g. Project V) for China but has total prize pool higher than the partner leagues themselves
since this ran at the same time as CN EVO meant this is not Challengers China, it is even a step below. (Expect T2 CN League to be more pricey than this?)

posted about a year ago

900K CNY or $122,000 split equally as a 300K CNY or $41K in Each Act
for comparison the current Perfect World (CS) league runs at 276K CNY at the highest division

Theres also circuit points to collect, which determines top teams entering Ascension in December
( Teams that will later went on to be partnered will probably auto-exclude from the leaderboard later on)

Not all matches, but then all matches from play-in onward

None of the teams have been selected for partner yet so at this point every Chinese team is playing (incl those teams at Champions) and they'll probably be excluded from the ascension tournament later on when selected as partner

Matchups: Here
