This thread is going to discuss about the possibility of Global Esports qualifying for playoffs. I'm gonna make a new thread every week up until either they guarantee a spot for playoffs, or until they out of the contention for playoffs (and yes, this is a response thread for the people who thought that GE would go 0-6)
If you don't know, a team must have a 4-5 record for them to be in the top 6 to reach playoffs, and 5-4 if you want to guarantee a spot there, because theoretically a team can still get eliminated even if they have a 4-5 record by losing to tiebreakers. So therefore, GE need to win at least 4 games and win tiebreakers to reach playoffs.
GE already loses their first week match against T1, so currently they're 0-1. In chronological order, this is the next 8 teams that GE are going to face for the current regular season: DRX, ZETA, Talon, Paper Rex, Gen.G, RRQ, DFM, and Team Secret.
I'm gonna talk about the possibility for GE to win these matches assuming that they play these matches in their current form. And I'm gonna sort their future matches into three categories, EZ W, 50/50, and AINTNOWAY.
For this category as you can tell by the name, are the matches that GE are just cannot afford to lose. Because I think GE are just objectively better than teams in this list. All of the matches in this category are matches that should be a free win and a key for them to qualify for playoffs:
The chemistry problem is still there, they lack cohesion and seems so lost on how to play off of each other, their calls and strats is not even that bad but individually they just seems kinda meh, I feel like GE could win against this team solely because they're better firepower wise.
If you look at their match against PRX they're still the same as ever, their fundamentals is so bad that makes them one of the worst teams in this league, to be fair they kinda have some decent calls especially on the 2nd map against PRX, maybe because I've heard anthem's the IGL now, but that's it. Should still be a free win for GE
In the 50/50 category are the matches that I feel like the results are still up in the air, it's kinda hard to tell if GE can win some of the matches that I'm about to say, and these matches should be the one that you're looking forward to if you're a GE fan
This is IMO the weakest team in this category, but I'm still not comfortable for putting them in the EZ WIN category so here we are.
It's been like a year since their reykjavik cinderella run, and it feels like this team got much worse by every tournament since then, the fact that they lack a "pure" duelist, their questionable calling, and their inconsistent players are really biting them in the ass. And they play too passively at times. With enough discipline GE should comfortably take the win.
I don't know man, their match against DFM still couldn't convince me that they're one of the best Pacific teams like they used to, They're still the same as ever, they keep running the troll comps and their stupid agressiveness. They always have this gimmicky set up strat that works only for a round or two. They're one of the best in terms of firepower sure but that's literally it. I feel like GE had a chance to beat them contrary to what most people think.
They're not even that bad honestly, I feel like what costs them the match is because of the 6 man rotation roster that they're doing. I don't think Pati is that good of a flex player and honestly they should just stick with the 5 man roster and make him as a sub. Maybe with enough practice together in the upcoming weeks they'll improve and they'll definitely be in the contention for Tokyo. Also they need to fix their fracture because holy their fracture is abysmal. I hope GE can utilize this somehow.
Now for this category are the matches that GE are not favored to win, it would be really cool for GE to win these matches, but it's unlikely. and if your team is in here IMO they're the contender for for qualifying to Tokyo.
I don't know what to say, ever since they got their new coach it feels like they're a different team. I really like stuff that I've been seeing from them. Their Ascent T side is amazing and especially their Fracture, invy is really of one the best initiators in the region. They really proving that their match against TL was not a fluke.
Meteor is a god among men, he's absolutely insane. And their calls and strats are very solid. On their match against RRQ they read them like a book, and two of their new players are also insane, they might be the most exciting team to watch this season
Unfortunately, this would be the match that GE going to play next week. Not really much to say really. Wiithout question they're the best team in the league. Even without BuZz they looked really solid. Their depth is insane especially with foxy9 which is proving to be an amazing duelist. I don't think any team have any chance to beat DRX to be honest.
So as it stands, I'm predicting that GE would win against:
They would go on to have a 4-5 record with hopefully winning the tiebreakers so that it would take them playoffs. Still a bit of a tall order for them to get that fourth win but again it's still the first week, with enough practice together with the full roster the team should improve in the near future.
So yeah, treat this as my Pacific power ranking relative to GE. Go ahead put your "aint readin allat" or "least insane GE fan" or whatever in the replies and thanks for reading this.
