what i could say is that northeastern dialect of brazilian portuguese carries a lot of old portuguese and galician elements and that's why it's more understandable for us than portugal's portuguese (this one changed a lot compared to 1500's)

é simplesmente porque o português é uma língua cantada e harmônica que favorece a poesia (é dita como a língua mais melancólica existente, e creio que isso se comprova nos poemas de Pessoa)

example of each one

galician-portuguese (lyrics on description): https://youtu.be/AoISthBGyak
galician: https://youtu.be/V11f0RVRrRc
portuguese (kinda old portuguese, but much more similar to nowadays): https://youtu.be/81aeJyKAza8

nah you're wrong
Portuguese came from a dialect called galaico-português that was spoken along the western coast of hispania (gallician-portuguese) that originated both (portuguese, galician and also xalimego). Não, português não é galego e o galego não é português.
