Lowkey if you swap EG and NRG I think they things go differently

posted about a year ago

Legitimate question since you seem to be a big team liquid guy. Who will replace sayf if he is on the way out? If not him leaving what changes need to be made if any in your opinion? Sure they were a clear cut #2 in EMEA all season which is respectable in it of itself, but they were not strong at the majors this year.

I'd argue that 3 teams in group A alone were in form for Tokyo. Navi despite going 0-2 looked very formidable against both NRG and EDG, granted EDG's "form" can really only peak at 4th place at a major that should still be taken into account.

I feel like this roster is a roster that DRX can win a major with, I'm just not sure what they are missing. The cohesiveness of the team is very strong and it feels like any player could pop off at any time, I feel like the issue might be on the coaches end because it watching the EG match it just seems like they were so unprepared for what EG was going to throw at them especially with leaving Fracture up.

Is she not allowed at champs? Not enough time for teams to make comps? Or just not a good enough agent to merit play currently?

I think its a big problem for tier two teams to be seen only as a "way-station" and nothing more. It doesn't give orgs incentive to stay in the tier two region longer than a season, and basically if you don't proceed to VCT its seen as a failure and a poor investment. I don't expect many more orgs to re-invest into the tier 2 scene after this, more work should be done to make it more marketable and more appealing for teams to still be in there considering how difficult it is to get to tier 1

T1 is actually the team in this group I'm most confident in, very strong showing at Tokyo despite being grouped which I think would fuel them for a major bounce back at Champs

Another matchup where I think the rematch will be very close, would definitely be an upset and would require some hero play from NRG but I think they can get it done

posted about a year ago

Their match with Kru I could see being very close, as both have been in incredible form as of late. I think it comes down to IGL play at the end of the day and I trust Haodong a little bit more than I do Melser.

3 day breaks seems to be the norm for the interim time before bigger stages in the bracket, more than likely to allow ample prep time as well as rest for the players too. I don't see that big of an issue with it, they did that way with Lock In and Tokyo (break between groups and playoffs being only a day and a half though for Tokyo)

NAVI's form seems extremely subpar currently in officials, having them above a team that they just lost to seems off.

I agree with EG's rating as of right now (because it is fair), but I don't expect them to stay in the top 5 after Champions. There were so many things that fell their way in Tokyo, including every single team they played except for PRX hard banning/not picking Pearl which I think is one of their weaker maps.

90 % FNC vs. NRG will be a competitive rematch

10 % Two CN teams make it past group stage

What was the biggest match upset over the course of this year? (Regular Season, Masters, LCQ) What is a big upset that you could see happening at Champions? Personally I believe FPX has a marginal chance to defeat EG, but its definitely in the realm of possibility and would absolutely shock the world if they pull it off.

All that being said, still a massive risk to take on THAT much of an investment in a tier 2 team. I mean just look at how Disguised turned out, it will be the reason that a lot of these org-less teams will get a chance granted to them because if it backfires it backfires so hard. You could even make an argument a team like Bonkers should be given a chance because they at least made it to Ascension and even made it to the playoff stage in that event.
