Just because you're more structured on paper doesn't mean you'll win everytime. Sometimes you just have off days, sometimes you pop off.

Probably because of the fact that, Liquid was known as this one team where they'd lose the easiest rounds yet winning the most difficult ones with individual plays.
They struggled with proper Structure.
Now they seem to have a proper structure.
In my opinion, depends on a team's PlayStyle.
If you're heavily based on setting up one (or two) players and everyone else just plays around it then there probably would be more calling, less gun fights to be taken. Optic, FPX and to some extent even PRX are good examples of this.
Then you have the 100T, DRX play it all disciplined strategically till the end where the IGL mainly calls the mid round shots but also relies on info given by teammates.
