Well, considering the fact that loud made franchising, it isn't really a new challenge as they would have been in LA playing the americas franchise league either way. But it's more money most likely, which is just as valid as a reason to go anyway.

People assess and speculate about teams and how they would do against other teams they haven't played yet all the time. The idea that there's something wrong with that is moronic. It's literally what all the analysts are doing when they're setting expectations going into these tournaments. Could it be wrong? Sure, but that doesn't mean we throw up our hands in the air and choose to not think about it.

My reading comprehension skills are fine. What happens at tokyo doesnt matter in the here and now. At the moment, in current form, EDG would slap most of the EMEA teams, which is the point of my comment. It seems your comprehension skills are lacking.

Who says they'll only be playing against themselves? They'll literally have all the APAC league teams in seoul and korean teams. China/Korean teams scrim each other all the time in the league scene. I expect nothing to be different in valorant.

posted about 2 years ago

That's a good point. But I'd still rather not rate a team that we haven't seen in months that highly.

posted about 2 years ago

Fnatic kept 3, liquid kept 2, but two of their new players came from the same team. Not much of a difference imo.

posted about 2 years ago

Overestimating teams we haven't seen play in months. Like we all did with liquid.

posted about 2 years ago

They don't care, they just wanna hate. Can't complain too much tho. NA fans would do the same if positions were reversed with a top EU team.

Fnatic? lol, we haven't learned from liquid i see.

Nah, waste, china has too much talent

The form of teams 4 months from now has literally nothing to do with form atm

posted about 2 years ago

If the chinese player base explodes to even 1/4th of the size as league's player-base, it'll quickly make no sense to have them be part of APAC. So they've given them their own franchise league and hoping valorant does well in china. Their teams might suck atm, but they'll catch up eventually. Makes sense imo.

Not sure about fnatic. But pretty sure some of that confidence in C9 comes from the cores experience together prior to valorant in CSGO. Might also be true of fnatic players, don't know their history. Either way, fans will always over-hype the teams that they're cheering for regardless of what reality is. You're gonna find more EMEA/NA fans here than Br which results in more over-estimation of those teams as compared to Brazilian/Latam/APAC teams. It is what it is. No reason to get upset about it.

Cute, but also hilarious she made a derogatory term her name lol wtf

nope

Yea, not sure what type of logic in comparison people are trying to use when NA literally has half as many teams in this.

Pretty sure everyone would have said the same of liquid and secret and look how that's going lol. Still not over of course.

THIS BLASPHEMY WILL NOT STAND

They don't need to be. They're doing their own thing which is perfectly fine.

To Sentinels:

We last saw you play a month ago at the ludwig x tarik invitational with only a few days of preparation. With this last month of practice, do you guys feel that you've improved enough to have a reasonable chance at going deep or even winning this tournament?

Zekken and dephh played at copenhagen and champions

where is it announced?

posted about 2 years ago

I don't even think we even have confirmation on how many teams will be at tokyo. Just that the winner of lock-in earns an extra slot for their region.

Pretty sure saadhak didn't want to leave loud so that was never gonna happen.

Well, considering that China is very likely to be getting its' own franchise league next, I think it makes some sense for them to invite their best teams to all the internationals this year. Also keep in mind that Tencent fully owns Riot which has made them partial to China in the past(along with the obscene amount of money they make over their with LoL). Makes me believe that they will do this, even if it isn't completely fair.

posted about 2 years ago

Do we have confirmation somewhere of the exact number of teams making it? Without any info besides extra slot from winning lock-in, I'd assume it would be 3/3/4/2 (with 2 Chinese teams receiving invites). Same with champions. Do we know anything?

She was literally playing on EG until she became coach. You didn't notice?

posted about 2 years ago

We haven't seen Sentinels play in over a month, and when they did, they had only practiced for a few days. You have no idea what their level is atm. No one does.

posted about 2 years ago

They weren't a month ago at the ludwig x tarik tournament. But they had only been practicing for a few days. Now that they've had over a month, they very well could be the best. No way of knowing until we see them play. I don't think it's crazy at all to believe they could be the best. With Sacy/Pancada and the x-set player/coach additions, it's hard to see a world where this team isn't eventually one of the best in the world.

edit: spelling

We can see a good portion of the arena in this vid, no one in the upper stands. There definitely aren't 1500 ppl there, not even 500.

Doesn't even look like it's up to 200 people tbh. Idk how you can believe that there's close to 1500 people.

Only 3

Rosters might have shuffled, but it's still the same region. Americas has merged NA, BR and LATAM.

And the crowd is still dead with two Brazilian teams playing....this event is doomed.

It shouldn't be anymore. No more restrictions on cheering.

Honestly, I think even that might be optimism. Looks too empty, even if no BR teams are playing.

Yea, wasn't a throw. NRG just played attack really well.

The requirement of all the challenger leagues is ascendant. Tell me, how does it make sense to require game-changers to be immortal+?

posted about 2 years ago

If the chinese player-base grows rapidly, which is definitely possible, then they'll have more than enough of a player base to sustain their own franchise league + challenger league.
